    How to Prepare for Knee Arthroscopy if you are diagnosed with it?

  • Your doctor will only prepare you for the surgery. They should keep in mind the prescription, and the medicines that are currently taken by the patients. You are suppose to stop taking other medicines for weeks together before you go for the procedure
  • You must avoid eating or drinking for 6 - 12 hours before the surgery. In most of the cases, your doctor may prescribe you with pain killers for any dis comfort after the surgery

  • What Happens at the time of Knee Arthroscopy?

    During the time of procedure, your doctor may give you anaesthesia, which may

  • Numb only the area of your knee (local anaesthesia)
  • Numb you from waist by regional anaesthesia
  • They can even put your whole body to sleep (general)
  • During any of the local or regional anaesthesia, if you are awake, then you can watch the process on a screen. Your surgeon may start with small cuts on your knee. Saline or sterile salt water is pumped to expand your knee, which will help your surgeon to look inside with the help of camera. After getting the problem in your knee, the doctor may insert small tools to correct the issue in your knee. After the surgery gets over, the surgeon may drain saline from your knee and may stitch it again.

    Risk associated with the surgery

    There are risks in all the surgery, though they are very rare risks, but the minimum are as follows:-

  • High bleeding at the time of procedure
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Allergic reaction
  • Clotting of blood in the leg
  • Infection
  • Knee stiffness
  • Your doctor will prescribe with the daily routine exercise to follow at home that can recover your joint.
