Dr. Mahesh Chaudhari

If you take a look at the growth and developments of the field of neurosurgery in India, you can say that it has evolved a lot over the years. This is because of the availability of the technologies and the highly skilled neurosurgeons in India. And, one such neurosurgeon is Dr. Mahesh Chaudhari!

Dr. Mahesh Chaudhari is considered as one of the most renowned neurosurgeon in India. Born on 14th September, 1954 in Dhulia, Maharashtra, India, Dr. Chaudhari holds a total clinical experience of 40 years. With such a vast experience, he has been associated with some of the best hospitals in Mumbai and Japan. Since 1996, he has been working as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Bombay hospital, Mumbai

Specialization:
Now, let us list his area of specialization which seems to be many considering his vast experience in this field:

  • Skull Base Tumors
  • Microvascular Decompression for cranial nerves in neuralgias
  • Endoscope assisted transphenoidal pituitary tumor surgery
  • Surgery of Skull Base Lesions
  • Preservation of Facial nerve and hearing in Acoustic Neuroma surgery

  • Microsurgical excision of brain Tumors along with clipping of intracranial aneurysms and excision of AVMS

Additionally, Dr. Mahesh Choudhari Bombay hospital has also managed to follow his interest in ‘Microsurgical Excision of Brain Tumors along with Clipping of Intracranial Aneurysms and Excision of AVMS.’

Since four decades, there has been lot of progress in the neurosurgery field in India. Because if you look at the current scenario, you can say that even in the best hospitals in India neurosurgery was very ancient when it started. But as years passed, new technologies emerged which aims to lessen the damage to the brain hence not affecting the patient’s quality of life. We are convinced that Dr. Mahesh Chaudhari also played a major role in establishing his department and neurology programs in India. His main emphasis is that when a patient goes back, his disease should be stable allowing him to be as functional as possible.

It is true that the evolving technologies in this field have also played an important factor in helping the doctors diagnose and treat the patient effectively. But you must not forget that that the technology is just a tool and cannot be the master of the clinician. The experience and the expertise a doctor brings cannot be replaced by a technology. And, we cannot entirely rely on it.

Thus, every single treatment done by Dr. Mahesh Chaudhari is according to a standard protocol and guidelines. He believes that following a protocol can reduce error during any surgery or a treatment. The most important situation a doctor has to face is communication with his patients and their family. In a multicultural era such as today, being multilingual especially in the field of medicine gives you the power to overcome communication barrier. Coming to the point, Dr. Mahesh Chaudhari can speak English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and Japanese. This only goes to show that apart from proving care he can easily tackle communication barrier that often arises among patient and his physician.

Academic & Fellowships:
As far as his qualification is concerned, he has completed his MBBS in 1976 and M.S. Neurosurgery in 1983 from Grant Medical College and Sir Jamshedjee Jeejeebhoy Group of Hospitals. And, M.Ch (Neurosurgery) from University of Mumbai.

During his fellowship of one year in Japan, Dr. Chaudhari Mahesh Pandharinath was trained in ‘Vascular Microneurosurgery’ at a Stroke Centre by some of the renowned Professors Tetsuo Kanno and Hirotoshi Sano. This fellowship allowed him to obtain valuable research experience in experimental glioma. Dr. Mahesh managed to utilize these experiences for managing patients while working as an Associate Professor at Grand Medical College.

Clinical experience:
As we all know that being a doctor is considered as a prestigious and a noble profession. The first job of any doctor is to reduce the suffering of a patient. The oath taken by doctor says that too, "I solemnly pledge myself to consecrate my life to service of humanity.’ When one opts for this profession they are opting for being the first responders whenever called upon.

This is what Dr. Mahesh Chaudhari has been striving to do, serving humanity. He has undergone years of training before being regarded as one of the well-known neurologist of India. He thinks that the challenging situation and long hours of shifts is all worth it when he sees that his patient is cured and will lead a normal life.

There is more to this than meets the eye!! Dr. Mahesh Chaudhari’s clinical experience includes working at some of the best hospitals in India and abroad.
