You should seek help of an experienced dermatologist.

  • On going to a dermatologist, they will first put you up on a course of either prescription or OTC medications and if your conditions don't see much improvement, or if the pace of improvement slows down after the initial stages, then they will further move towards surgical procedures.
  • There are many surgical options that can be implemented to treat scarred skin, such as: grafts, dermabrasion, or laser surgery.
    • In a skin graft (Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,20,000), the surgeon extracts skin from another part of your body, and uses it to fill your scarred region depending upon how deep it is ((used with people having burns)).
    • Dermabrasion (Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 6,000) is carried out on raised scars for smoothing and leveling the textural abnormalities of the scar and its uneven edges, to blends the scar with its surroundings - and microdermabrasion essentially does the same thing, but by reaching out to the deeper layers within skin.
    • While laser surgery (Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 per session) stimulates collagen, reduces redness and softens the scar.
  • Recovery time for each patient is highly specific and changes depending on what kind of scars you have and what other complications you present with, so an experienced dermatologist can help with same!
  • Note: The approximate cost ranges that we mention can be exceeded by actual incurred charges when you would be undergoing some treatment, because various factors affect overall cost. Such as - experience of treating clinician, complications faced, severity of concern, location & infrastructure of the clinic, or value-added services.

  • For wrinkles and acne, we would advise you to avoid smoking and to constantly wear sunscreen.
  • A doctor would mostly put you on a course of prescription medicines, OTC solutions, and other topicals, along with suggesting lifestyle improvements.
  • If they don't yield the desired output, then they might suggest below-mentioned treatments for wrinkles:
Chemical peels, dermabrasion/microdermabrasion, laser toning, facelifts, ultrasound, and injections.
    • Significance of each treatment in no specific order:
Peels intend to smoothen fine lines and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, while dermabrasion/microdermabrasion reaches to the derma and sometimes epidermis layer of the skin, so as to level out textural anomalies, then laser toning softens skin & stimulates collagen which helps in plumping up your face, whereas facelifts & ultrasound therapy tightens the muscles, and finally injections fills the hollowness and gives your face a lift as well.
  • For acnes, the dermatologist would provide you with the following options if medicines/lifestyle fixes don't deliver the desired results (no specific order to how & when they would be considered):
Light therapy, chemical peel, comedone extraction, and injections.
    • Their significance:
Chemical peels make your skin soft and reduces appearance, whereas in comedone extraction, blackheads & whiteheads are removed, and injections can release steroids into pimples/cysts and reduce them over a period of time.

  • We would like to begin by clarifying that our services are limited to this portal only, through which we educate people on alternative treatments, doctors and other options available for them.
  • Coming to your query, while we do not think that any clinic will agree to do half the surgery now and then remainder afterwards, but clinics generally prvide EMI/loan facilities, or otherwise even your insurance could have some provision for which you should contact your insurer.

Beyond this, we do not know of any other option provided by clinics to help with the financial problems of their patients, you can equire with more clinics though.

Since transplanted hair mimics our natural hair thus they will shed owing to aging different stages of hair growth, but other than that they should be permanent, this is if we speak of hair follicles transplanted from donor's region to the balding spot of your body.

Though we are not sure about artificial implants; biosynthetic hair implants ((not many clinics provide it, but this is an option that can be considered if no region on your body can qualify as donor's region)).

You can reach out to a specialist for information pertaining to this issue - Hair transplant surgeons.

Since your hair follicles will be excised from your donor's area and transplanted to balding spot, thus they would look the same as your natural hair, and would also go through similar stages of hair growth as your natural hair would.

What makes the difference ultimately is how the grafts are placed, and for that you would need an adept surgeon. Our page will speed up your search - Hair Transplant surgeons.

Additionally, our article will brief you on the entire procedure of this surgery and various subtypes under it - Hair transplant in India.

If you have any other doubt or geographic preferences for the recommendation lists, then you can drop us a message, we will reach back as soon as possible, take care!

  • Hair transplant surgery anywhere will take the same amount of time to complete, and that is 4 to 8 hours depending on complications faced and also divided into multiple sessions, followed by a few additional sessions for checkups.
  • Likewise can be said for healing or recovery time where your scalp will get used to changes, and which in turn will take 2-3 weeks.
  • But with an experienced surgeon you will get better results in terms of how naturally the grafts are placed to bring out your face, and your entire experience with the surgery will also be less straining. Refer our page to find appropriate specialists - Hair transplant surgeons.
  • You can also get detailed information about this surgery and its cost breakdown/subtypes, through our blog - Hair transplant in India.

We have given a gist of treatment options available to every patient below -- but based on your health background and severity of concern, the dermatologist will ultimately decide which course is the best for you.

However, you can still educate yourself and discuss these treatments with your specialist:

  • Laser toning (Rs. 4,000-10,000): laser device which breaks down your pigment and helps to reduce the impression of tan, sun spots, etc.
  • Chemical Peel (Rs. 1,800-10,000): A mixture of skin-nourishing acids which are beneficial for skin, is applied on the concerned region of your body, it dries up later on and is removed subsequently - this process allows regeneration of newer & healthier skin cells by removing upper tanned layers of skin.
  • Skin lightening Injections (Rs. 6,000-40,000): Can barricade your skin against U.V rays, along with enhancing skin tone. But will use a dosage of glutathione which comes with its own set of risks.
    • Risks:
      • Kidney damage &/or blood poisoning
      • Nausea, breathing issues &/or chest pain
      • Rashes, allergic reactions, numbness or hives.
      • Stomach infections &/or eye disorders.
      • Hair loss &/or hair Whitening.
      • Weight gain.
      • Note: Probability of risk can be reduced by supplying proper dosage.
  • OTC remedies or Clinically prescribed treatments - Creams/face pack/face wash (Rs. 200 to Rs. 2000): Results last for comparatively lesser amount of time, and tanning can affect even deeper layers of your skin while these would work on only the surface level of your skin.

  • General side effects for remaining treatments except creams & injections:
    • Pain. discomfort, stinging (for rest).
    • swelling, redness and bruising (for rest).
    • Increased sensitivity to sun (chemical peel).
  • Risks following remaining treatments except creams & injections:
    • Damage to heart/kidney/liver (chemical peel).
    • Permanent pigmentation, scarring and blistering (for rest).

Before agreeing for any treatment, look for these aspects:

  • Their past experiences & success rates, side effects & risks of each treatment, Pre-treatment preparations & post-treatment care, patient eligibility to undergo these treatments & correction course if ineligible, if your health background will create any complications, revision treatment in case you achieve undesirable outcomes -- or correction course in case you are ineligible to undergo this operation in future, and detailed information about procedure & what outcomes they intend to achieve (permanent cure/reducing the degree of problem/preventing further progress).
  • Pay special attention to hygiene and sterilization of tools/overall surroundings - as unsterilized equipment can cause infection.

Treatments mentioned below are general options available with each option, but it's for dermatologist to decide if patients are eligible to undergo any of these treatments, our information can help you know what aspects to discuss or enquire regarding.

  • Home remedies (varied): Exfoliation, shaving, and lifestyle modifications wherein the dermatologist will suggest OTC hygiene products to replace the ones you are using at present depending on your skin type/issues.
  • Prescription topicals/creams (varied): having stronger strength than OTC counterparts.
  • Laser toning (Rs. 4,000-10,000 per session): laser device which breaks down your pigment and helps to reduce the impression of tan, sun spots, etc.

      • Note: Probability of risk can be reduced by supplying proper dosage.
  • Microneedling (Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 per session): You will be supplied with anesthesia, followed by fine pricks being created evenly throughout face, and then there will be a gentle application of serum, which will result in growth of collagen

  • General side effects for remaining treatments EXCEPT home remedies, prescription creams, and injections:
    • Pain. discomfort, stinging (for remaining).
    • swelling, redness and bruising (for remaining).
    • Increased sensitivity to sun (chemical peel).
  • Risks following remaining treatments EXCEPT home remedies, prescription creams, and injections:
    • Damage to heart/kidney/liver (chemical peel).
    • Permanent pigmentation, scarring and blistering (for remaining).
  • We would also like to clarify that actual charges incurred can exceed the given estimates, depending on:
    • experience/location of doctor, infrastructure of clinic, technology/solution deployed to improve overall experience, and value added services provided along with treatment.

We have mentioned treatment options that are generally used to treat spots, but based on your health background and severity of concern, the dermatologist will ultimately decide which treatment to proceed forward with.

However, you can discuss following options with your specialist anyway:

  • Chemical Peel (Rs. 1,800-10,000): A concoct of skin-nourishing acids beneficial for skin, which is applied on the affected region of your body, in minimal quantity but of varying strength. It eventually dries up and is removed thereon - this process encourages regeneration of newer & healthier skin cells by removing upper tanned layers of skin.
  • Microdermabrasion (Rs. 1500 to Rs. 6000 per session): Only acts upon the superficial layer of skin (epidermal scarring). During treatment, your dermatologist will use a drill-like compact appliance with a wire brush or some other abrasive as its tip, to swipe over your skin. It effectively eliminates epidermal scarring.
  • Dermabrasion (Rs. 1500 to Rs. 6000 per session): Same as Microdermabrasion, but also reaches a part of your dermis which is beyond the epidermis layer.
  • Laser resurfacing (Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 10,000 per session): laser device crucial in breaking down pigment and reducing texture of tan, sun spots, etc.
  • Microneedling (Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 per session): You will be supplied with anesthesia beforehand, followed by fine pricks being created on your face and covering it entirely, post which there will be a gentle application of serum, this entire process results in the growth of collagen
  • Either OTC or Prescription - Creams/face pack/face wash (Rs. 200 to Rs. 2000): Results last for a comparatively lesser amount of time, and spots can affect even deeper layers of your skin, but these on another hand would work on only the upper surface of your skin.

  • Common side effects following each treatment, except creams, are:
    • Pain. discomfort, stinging, swelling, redness and bruising (for all).
    • Increased sensitivity to sun (chemical peel).
  • Risks for each treatment, except creams, are:
    • Damage to heart/kidney/liver (chemical peel).
    • Skin getting pierced, Damage to eye (microdermabrasion/dermabrasion)..
    • Permanent pigmentation, scarring and blistering (for all).
  • Incurred charges may exceed our estimated price range for each treatment, owing to factors such as:
    • Experience/location of treating clinician, infrastructure of/value-added services provided by clinic, complications you present with, employment of technology/other solutions to improve overall experience during treatment.

To get in touch with experts, refer our page - Dermatologists.

Let us know if you need a list of city-specific recommendations, or if you have any other doubt, we are just a drop of message away, take care!

Note - To pick a suitable specialist, look-out for these aspects:

  • Their experience & success rates, list of side effects & risks following such treatments, pre-treatment preparations & post-treatment care, patient eligibility for each treatment, your health background (present conditions/history of family diseases/past diseases) and possible complications they can create, correction course in case you are ineligible to undergo any treatment, revision course if you develop problems, detailed info about every procedure, and intended outcomes (permanent cure/reducing the degree of problem/preventing further progress).
  • Never neglect hygiene and sterilization of tools/surroundings - to avoid infection.
