Let's learn more about Rumna Shaikh's journey, a 48-year-old Bangladeshi patient fighting the deadliest disease. Rumna was living a good life before she was interrupted by thyroid cancer. She and her family were devastated when she was diagnosed with cancer. She was experiencing swelling and severe pain, which caused her great discomfort.
Rumna’s husband is a doctor. They consulted many doctors in Bangladesh. They tried everything in their hand but were never satisfied with the services they received in Bangladesh. They were under great stress and couldn’t decide what to do next.
Let's find out how ClinicSpots helped Runmna in her journey.
At that time, they came into contact with the Clinicspots. They got our referral from one of our old patients. Rumna’s husband contacted Clinicspots in October 2021, and our executives quickly took hold of the situation. Rumna was asked to come to India for better treatment of her cancer before the problem worsened.
Traveling to India was difficult for them as their passport was not renewed. They desperately needed treatment, so they immediately applied for their passport renewal process. After receiving their passport, we actively shared the VIL (Visa Invitation Letter) with them within 48 hours. They got the visa in under 3-4 working days and were ready to travel with hope in their hearts.
Rumna was accompanied on this medical trip by her husband. They traveled to India in November 2021, where they were taken to Apollo hospital, Navi Mumbai. Rumna’s case was assigned to Dr. Anil D’cruz, the director of the Apollo hospital. Dr. Anil is a renowned head and neck oncologist (cancer specialist). Dr. Anil is a very respected doctor in the field of oncology.
Diagnosis Test
Dr. Anil was earlier informed by the Clinicspots about the whole situation of Rumna’s case. Test reports were shared with the doctor to properly understand the patient's case. Though tests were already performed back in Bangladesh, to make sure and study the seriousness of the disease, Dr. Anil suggested a few more tests. Here is the list of tests that were done.
- PET CT Scan.
- Cardiac Evaluation.
- Rooting Blood Test.
Treatment Plan
After going through the reports, Dr. Anil confirmed that the patient is suffering from lateral border tongue cancer. The doctor then decided to take the treatment further by doing major surgery. There were no other options left instead of removing the tumor with the help of surgery.
Results
The surgery was successful without any difficulties. The patient and her husband were very delighted by the success of the surgery. The risks were taken away, and the life-threatening malignancy was totally removed.
Post-treatment guidelines
The doctor suggested radiation therapy to reduce cancer recurrence risk. Dr. Anil suggested the patient stay in India for at least 3 months. The patient and her husband refused to return as they wished to continue further treatment in Bangladesh.
The doctor gave proper protocols and guided the patient for further radiation treatment. The doctor also advised Rumna to visit India for yearly follow-ups and checkups.
Rumna’s visit to India was just for 15 days. In these few days, she stayed strong and fought for what she needed. The Clinicspots executives assisted Rumna in every step. The patient is now cancer-free and in continuous touch with us if any problems occur. They flew back to their country with happy and smiling faces, hoping never to experience this again.
Note: We respect our patient's privacy, so the name has been changed to maintain confidentiality.
