Hi, I have been suffering from Alopecia Universalis. Do you know any solution for this?

Hello, Alopecia Universalis is classified as an autoimmune disease and till date, there is no reliable treatment available. Depending on your condition, the doctor may prescribe corticosteroids to suppress your immune system or they may give topical immunotherapy to stimulate the immune system. These treatments are given with the aim to activate the hair follicles and boost hair growth. Further, ultraviolet light therapy is also recommended to increase the circulation of the blood and activate the hair follicles. Hope our answer helps you. best method for hair transplant
Can you suggest to me the best hair transplant technique? And after my hair transplant surgery will I have to take off from my work for a few days??

Hello, FUE is the most popular method for hair transplant. Important note: FUE hair transplantation requires the surgeon to possess higher skill sets in order to perform the procedure successfully, and this technique consistently yields successful outcomes in terms of hair density, natural-looking hairline, and it eliminates donor linear scarring. It is also a painless procedure. Most people are able to return to work in 2 to 5 days after the operation. But while moving out after your surgery you need to cover your head to avoid dust and direct sunlight and if there are some more precautions which need to be taken doctor will tell you. You may even need to take medications for several days. Each and every step after surgery will be told to you by the doctor in detail. Hope you are satisfied with my answer. How long would it last (transplanted hair)? Also, could I prevent my hair fall if I take PRP 4 times a year?

Answered on 23rd May '24
Hello sir, After your treatment is completed the hair will start to fall off within 2 to 3 weeks and new hair will regrow. And if you are concerned about how long your transplant will last, it will last for a lifetime. Also, I would like to tell you that there is nothing like preventing hair fall. Hair fall is a natural process in which few hairs will fall and then they will be replaced by new hair. By taking 4 times PRP a year you can minimize your hair fall but cannot completely prevent it. Moreover, it is very important to identify the hair loss phase. With the help of the dermatologist, you can identify your hair loss phase and according to that, the doctor will advise you about how many times you can take PRP in a year. Hello sir, Yes, it is possible. You can consult the doctor for different techniques of hair transplant for front hairline. Hairline reconstruction is a surgical procedure which depends upon various variables such as pre-operative hairline height, patient preference and scalp laxity. Usually, FUE is the technique used for frontal hairline transplant. But for more information I would suggest you consult the hair transplant Surgeon in Mumbai as after proper physical examination, he would be able to help you in a proper way. What is the different between hair transplant and hair weaving?
Pankaj Kamble
Member of team ClinicSpots.
Answered on 23rd May '24
Hi Vishnu,
- Hair weaving: Hair weaving method is concerned with adding more hair to cover baldness or adding hair to one's natural hair. The added hair can be human or synthetic. Further, hair weaving is not a permanent solution. As the hair is without bulb (the growing centre of hair), they never grow. In addition, they tend to lose and fall with time; as they are glued to the hair or scalp. There are different types of weaving such as netting, bonding, fusion, lace extensions, micro braiding, tracking, etc. You can select the hairstyle dependent on your hair type.
- Hair Transplant surgery: is a procedure by which the hair follicles are transplanted into the bald area. The hair is extracted from your donor area and implanted into the bald area. So, because of this process, your hair will grow naturally from the root. In case you are suffering from baldness, hair transplant is the best and the most reliable method to get your natural looking hair back.

I m suffering from baldness for 25 years, gradually the level is becoming 7. I am diabetic (under control). Will transplant be suitable for me and how many grafts I need and which technique is the best for me?

Hello, As you have mentioned that you have baldness level 7, you will require more than 3000 grafts for hair transplant surgery and the suitable technique would be FUE. But before going further, we would suggest that you visit your nearest dermatologist as he/she will be able to properly guide you after physically examining your scalp. The doctor will do a scalp test and also as you are diabetic, he/she will be more cautious regarding your health. He/she will also do necessary tests to be completely sure if you are fit to undergo a hair transplant surgery. Hi, I have done my hair transplant 2 days before, I just want to know that how long the grafts will remain secure after the transplant?

Answered on 23rd May '24
Hi Mahesh, Your grafts will remain secured for 2 to 3 weeks if you take proper care. Later, the grafts will shed as only then the new hair will grow. Also, the hair transplant will remain permanent if you take precautions like: 1. Wear a cap to avoid direct exposure to sunlight. 2. Don't bath under the shower. 3. Massage your head gently and not vigorously. 4. If you smoke or consume alcohol, kindly stop it till the treatment is completed. 5. Avoid stressful exercises. Hope our answer helps you.
Hi, I'm planning to go with the FUT treatment but just tell me how noticeable the scar will be after the procedure?
Pankaj Kamble
Member of team ClinicSpots.
Answered on 23rd May '24
Hello, In the initial stage, the visibility of the scar will be more because the head will be completely shaven. Later, when you get your fully grown hair after 12 months, the hair will cover the scar but yes the scar will not be fully covered. We would suggest you undergo FUE hair transplant as it is the most advanced technique today and also a no scar treatment. In FUE, the hair transplant surgeon will extract the hair from the donor area using the neograft tool and will implant the hair grafts with a small needle. FUE might cost you more than FUT treatment but it is a painless treatment, no stitches, no scars and also the recovery is faster. Our blog goes into more depth and details while explaining this procedure - FUT Hair Transplant. Hope our answer helps you. Answered on 23rd May '24
Hello, Sorry, but androgenetic alopecia is not curable. But thankfully there are drugs which are safe and can delay the occurrence of the condition, that is thinning and shedding of hair for many years. Also, there are surgical treatments like FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) and DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) which can help you to bring back your natural hair. But before moving forward you should consult the dermatologist and get to know whether you can get hair transplantation done or not. Hope our answer helps you. I have gone through hair transplant surgery 4.5 months ago. I am suffering from Androgenetic Alopecia. As per the doctor, I am taking minoxidil and finastride on daily basis. However, my hair sheds while I apply minoxidil (10-15 hairs shed) and while I wash my head. Please suggest whether this is normal or should I consider any other treatment?

Hair fall is natural. As the lifecycle of hair has different stages.
- Telogen and exogen are shedding phases of hair cycle where we lose hair. 15 to 20% hair are shed in these phases, therefore it's natural.
- But when you lose more hair than routine, then its a matter of concern. Upto 30 to 40 hair per day is normal. Whatever you lose will grow back according to your hair cycle.
- If you are losing thin hair very frequently then it's alarming as well.
- After starting minoxidil hair fall increases. But that is normal and you will get those hair back because you are not losing them from the root.
Keep using minoxidil and finasteride it will help you.

My sister has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is 45 years old. The doctor say the cancer has spread to retro pectoral lymph nodes. Suggest some affordable cancer hospital for her treatment.

Answered on 23rd May '24
Hello, Your sister's Breast cancer can be cured. In this case, surgery will be the best option as cancer has spread to the retro-pectoral lymph nodes. The lymph nodes will be removed surgically by the Surgical Oncologist. Now coming to the hospitals, you can either go to government/charitable hospital or a private hospital according to your preference and budget. The benefit of government hospitals is that it will provide you free/affordable cancer treatment but will have a long waiting time and on the other hand, Private hospitals will have premium cost but no waiting time with best facilities. Below are the government hospitals located in Mumbai:
- Tata Memorial Hospital, Lower Parel, Mumbai
- ACTREC (Advanced Cancer Treatment, Research and Education Centre), Kharghar, Navi Mumbai

My mother has extramammary Paget's vulva disease. Doctors are saying that it's also cancer. Could you please suggest and guide me to the best hospitals for this and also the cost associated with it.

Answered on 23rd May '24
Hi Mr Vipin, Your mother's disease which is Paget's disease of the Vulva is best treated with Surgery. The prediction depends upon how far the underlying cancer has spread to the other parts of the body. Wide Surgical Excision and removal of the entire tumor is the preferred treatment option. This may be followed by Radiation therapy or Chemotherapy as the doctors suggest.
The following will be the cost:
- Wide Surgical Excision: 6,000 USD to 8000 USD (420,000 INR to 560,000 INR)
- Radiation Therapy (The cost of radiation therapy varies from hospital to hospital and procedure to procedure): 2,000 USD to 3,000 USD (140, 000 INR to 210, 000 INR)
- Chemotherapy (Depends upon the drugs and medicines used for chemotherapy and the stage of your cancer): 250 USD to 700 USD (17, 500 INR to 49,000 INR) per cycle.
