What is the knee replacement surgery cost in India?

The knee replacement surgery cost in India is approximately between Rs.1,50,000 ($2,200) to Rs.3,80,000 (5,500).

This makes knee replacement cost in India quite low compared to the western countries.

Generally, the cost will depend on the type of knee replacement:

Unilateral Total Knee Replacement ₹1,61,000 - ₹2,47,000 $2,319 - $3,558

Revision Knee Replacement ₹2,84,150 - ₹4,69,050 $4,093 - $6,757

  • Unilateral Total Knee Replacement: The cost of unilateral total knee replacement is comparatively lesser than bilateral total knee replacement because in unilateral total knee replacement only one knee is operated and damaged parts are replaced by prosthesis implants.

  • Bilateral Total Knee Replacement: The cost is higher when it comes to bilateral total knee replacement because here both the knees are operated and the number of days you need to stay at the hospital is generally more.

  • Partial Knee Replacement: Partial knee replacement will cost you less because; only the damaged part of your knee either the inside or outside part is replaced.

  • Revision Knee Replacement: Cost of Revision Knee Replacement is even higher because it is more complicated and difficult to perform the surgery as surgeons have to remove the original implants.
