Can I Use Creatine with Kidney Stones?
Can I take creatine if I have kidney stone?
Dr. Babita Goel
General Physician
Answered on 6th May '24
Having a kidney stone might mean creatine isn't safe. Kidney stones can cause your back or side - and sometimes your belly - to hurt. They're normally a group of minerals or salts stuck together in the kidneys. By taking creatine, you could potentially make kidney stones more painful because it adds stress to your kidneys. Get advice from a nephrologist before starting creatine if you have kidney stones.

The test report shows that your right kidney is good. But the left kidney has a bit of trouble. Some damage is there in the outer part of the left kidney. You may not have any problems right now. But you should look for pain or change in urine. To help your left kidney, you should drink lots of water. You should also talk to a nephrologist for more advice soon.

My WNC in urine is elevated to 250. What is the cause and treatment?
Dr. Babita Goel

Answered on 24th Apr '24
If your urine has many white blood cells or "WNC," it signifies a urinary tract infection. Peeing may cause pain, and you might feel an urge to pee frequently with cloudy urine. Drinking lots of water helps, but antibiotics from a nephrologist are needed to cure the infection.

The baby has a condition, hydronephrosis. This is swelling in the kidney from blocked urine flow. It can cause pain, fever, and trouble urinating. Since kidney function decreased, the baby needs more tests like ultrasound or a scan to find the blockage. Treatment may involve a procedure to remove the blockage or medication to improve kidney function. Following the nephrologist's advice for proper care and treatment.

This means less creatinine in your system. Lower creatinine is good - it shows less strain. High creatinine brings tiredness, swelling, trouble urinating. Keep tracking your progress carefully. If new worries arise, like changes in how you feel, let your nephrologist know right away.

This is Salam Aziz from Iraq male with 58 years old.my CT scan report shows my left kidney normal BUT there are two well define non enhancing cysts one lower cortical measure 11 mm @ the other larger exophytic measure 75 x 55 mm ( Bosniak I) . The doctors here told me i have two options either remove it or only remove the tumor and leave the rest.I am with the second option if possible ? I am ready to fly to india. please dont hesitate to ask any question. Best Regards Salam Aziz saal6370@gmail.com +964 770 173 8677

your CT scan report reveals two cysts in the left kidney and one is a larger exophytic cyst classified as Bosniak I it can be explained why less invasive alternatives options are to consider. The second alternative that you described, namely the excision of a tumor (presumably a large cyst) alone while sparing other parts of the kidney. The ultimate decision should be discussed with your urologist or surgeon.

Contrast Enhanced Computed Tomography of the whole abdomen showing moderate hypatomegaly with coarse attentuation, edematous GB mild dilated portal vein, splenomegaly, diverticulituis in sigmoid colon. Crystitis. My brother suresh kumar's report has been admitted in Maharaja Agrasain Hospital, Punjabi Bagh and the doctor has recommended us for a second opinion. Kindly advise / suggest next course of action if possible.

Based on the findings, it's evident that there are multiple concerns: mild hepatomegaly (enlarged liver) with coarse texture, suggesting the possibility of liver disease; edema in the gallbladder; slight dilatation of portal vein and splenomegaly present; diverticulitis — sigmoid colon and cystitis. Due to this complexity, a multi-disciplinary approach is suggested. The problems concerning the liver, gallbladder, and diverticulitis should be referred to a gastroenterologist. An opinion of a urologist for the cystitis can also be recommended. Because of the variety in organ involvement, it is also important to exclude all systemic conditions that may affect several organs.

in case your father is suffering from chronic kidney disease ckd it’s essential to seek advice of his health care provider. Managing CKD often involves the use of medicines, a change in lifestyle and monitoring. Make sure your father takes all medications as prescribed, including Nodosis the sodium bicarbonate containing drug. Recommended dietary alterations could include restricting sodium and protein consumption. Regular visits and effective communication with health professionals will allow carrying out monitoring of his treatment plan which might need to be modified after taking into consideration the condition he is in.

Hello, my brother has diabetes, which has damaged both kidneys. The doctors have recommended dialysis as an immediate measure while waiting for a kidney transplant. In our country, the law stipulates that you can only donate a kidney to a family member, and none of the family members have his type of kidney. My question is, can the hospital offer or donate the kidney to the hospital/clinic, and if so, how much would it cost?

Kidney transplantation is a standard medical procedure. Hospitals and clinics in India do offer kidney transplant services, but it's crucial to consult directly with these facilities for the most up-to-date information on the availability, cost, and eligibility for kidney transplantation. Costs can vary widely depending on the hospital, the type of transplant, and other factors. Firstly, approximately 20 years ago, I experienced a significant shoulder impact while playing football, resulting in a sprain that extends from my neck to the back of my shoulder. Whenever I engage in physical activity, particularly on the injured right shoulder side, I feel a burning sensation accompanied by heat. Additionally, I've noticed that my right hip appears elevated since the injury. In a previous scan, I discovered a left-sided disc prolapse. Moreover, I occasionally experience sprains in the middle of my back. I have not been taking any medications for this issue as previous doctors have been unable to identify the problem. I am concerned about the long-term implications and would greatly appreciate your expertise in evaluating and providing guidance on the appropriate course of action. Are there any specific tests or examinations that you recommend to better understand the underlying causes and potential treatment options for my shoulder, hip, and back issues? Furthermore, I recently discovered that I have kidney stones in both of my kidneys. I do not have diabetes or high blood pressure, and I am not diagnosed with arthritis. Additionally, I have been informed that I have elevated uric acid levels. Considering these multiple health concerns, I am wondering if blood tests or any other diagnostic tests would be beneficial in identifying any potential connections between these issues and guiding the most appropriate treatment plan.

To address your musculoskeletal concerns consult an orthopedic specialist. They would recommend imaging studies, physical therapy, and medications as needed. For your kidney stones and elevated uric acid, seek guidance from a urologist nearest to you or a nephrologist who can perform diagnostic tests. I suggest to follow certain dietary changes, and monitor your kidney health. Open communication with your specialists for a tailored treatment plan for your multiple health concerns.

Kidney transplant procedure will cost anywhere between Rs. 4,00,000 to Rs. 16,00,000.
For formalities pertaining to this procedure and how it will be performed, you can give our article a read - Kidney Transplant.
You will have to find donors on your own, most preferably your relatives, and a non-relative donor would have to get permission from an Authorization Committee established by the state.

- Currently, stem cell therapy for kidney failure treatment has not been granted by approval by the FDA, but otherwise, kidney failure should be treatable by either dialysis or kidney transplant.
Albeit, some studies show good chances of this treatment being used for patients in near future. - Approximate cost estimates:
- Kidney transplant: Rs. 3,94,000 - Rs. 4,87,000.
- Dialysis: Rs. 4000 to Rs. 15000 per month.
