Hi, my friend has diffuse B cell lymphoma in the small intestine. Which is the best chemotherapy or surgery for the same?
The gastrointestinal tract is the most common site of extranodal involvement for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL),but there is deficit of enough study in such cases therefore the best combination of treatment is subject of discussion. Currently, a combination of surgery followed chemotherapy is considered primarily because the preoperative diagnosis is difficult and risk of complications requiring surgery is quite high during chemotherapy. As per studies surgery plus chemotherapy was associated with a lower rate of relapse than chemotherapy. But the decision should be made by the treating clinician only as he is evaluating the case. Hello, my mother is suffering from T-cell lymphoma stage 3. Is it curable?
As per my understanding your mother is suffering from T-cell lymphoma stage 3. As per literature the survival rate for lymphoma stage III, is of 5 years in 83% of patients. But still she needs to be under observation of an oncologist. Further investigations, treatment all depends on her general condition and stage and type of cancer. Routine cytology with PET scans, and others may be required. But line of investigations is all planned according to patient's response to treatment and doctor's decision. It varies from case to case.
