Questions & Answers on "Immunodermatologist" (2674)

My Grandmother is Bedridden for past 4 years. For past 1 month she is having Bedsores in between the shoulder blades which measures around 5×5 cm. Initially we did dressing and it healed leaving a black scar. But for past 2 days we noticed pus discharge from one edge of the scar with foul smell. Inside the scar it is fluctuant. My questions are :- 1. Do we have to remove the entire scar and do the dressing or through the opening in the edge of the scar irrigating and giving antibiotic wash along with betadine gauze packing in the abscess cavity is enough? 2. To prevent further bed sores which bed is good? Water bed or Air Bed?

Female | 92

As for the wound, it is crucial to clean it well and cover it with antibiotic gauze. This is the way it can be healed. Concerning the prevention of further sores, both water beds and air beds are useful by alleviating the pressure on her skin. Be sure to move her body every so often so that she doesn't get too much pressure in one spot. This will also help to prevent more bedsores.

I am a 18 year old male, 56kg and a filipino. Three days ago, I ate a spicy food and a day after that I felt a burning sensation when doing my business in the toilet. A day after that I felt a bump near my anus and I'm thinking if its a boil or a pimple. I know that having a boil is pretty hard so I'm scared of what it is and i dont know what to do to stop it from getting worse

Male | 18

You may have something referred to as a perianal abscess. When bacteria infect a tiny gland around the anus, this can cause a painful lump. Soaking in warm water may help relieve discomfort. Don’t squeeze or pop it—try to keep the area clean instead. If it becomes worse or doesn’t get better, you should go see your doctor for more help.
