Treatment for pneumonia in children

Male | 25

Treatment for pneumonia in children typically involves antibiotics if it's caused by bacteria, and supportive care for viral pneumonia. Rest, fluids, and fever-reducing medications are also essential. However, severe cases might need hospitalization for oxygen therapy and intravenous fluids. It's important to consult a pediatrician for the right diagnosis and treatment plan.

Hi, my name is aiden i am 14 years old and I've been wondering if there something wrong with me when i lay down on my chest i find it a lil hard to breathe sometimes i wonder if its axizety or i might be overthinking but other then that ive been having axizety making it hard for me to sleep and i just feels like my eyes are close but im not getting any sleep what should i do

Male | 14

When you lay on your chest and it feels hard to get air in, that could be from anxiety. Anxiety also makes it difficult for people to sleep well at night.  You can learn how to control your breathing when talking about it with them and other ways of calming down too if they know about it. Try doing things before going to bed like making a routine so that every time before sleep you will make sure that you get into bed more easily also practice good habits around sleep like not watching any screens an hour before bedtime because they keep awake longer which means fewer hours spent resting. If these symptoms stay or get worse then maybe it's time to see the doctor and tell them what’s been happening.

I had intranasal MRSA and my doctor prescribed me mupricion. It actually made me contagious, why did that happen? Is it common

Female | 34

You could be handling MRSA bacteria which normally causes infections. When contracted, a drug known as Mupirocin is prescribed for treatment. The bacteria may become resistant if not used properly for a long time such that it even stops working, thereby rendering one more contagious. Take note of any symptoms such as increasing redness, swelling, or pain, and consult your physician. They might need to change your therapy to assist you in feeling better. Whenever you are using your medication ensure that you adhere to what your doctor has instructed or else you may encounter some complications.

Male | 25

It's important to inform your healthcare provider about any medications you're taking, especially antibiotics like flucloxacillin and ampicillin, as they may affect the results of your chest scan. Your doctor will advise you on whether it's safe to proceed with the scan while on these medications, considering your current health condition. Always follow your doctor's guidance regarding medical procedures.

I have asthma but no inhaler and I want to start track and field in my school. What should I do?

Female | 14

Sports if you are asthmatic and lack of inhaler can turn out to be a dangerous affair. Asthma is a disease that can cause breathing difficulties, coughing, and compactness of the chest among other things. Physical activities can provoke an asthma attack. In your situation, it would be dangerous to do track and field without an inhaler. Warn your parents or school nurse about your asthma and request them to help you get an inhaler before beginning track and field.

Is tramadol risky for a 99 year old woman? It was given to grandmother at nursing home and she started running out of breath.

Female | 99

This is especially risky for a 99-year-old woman. Tramadol may lead to respiratory problems among older adults. If she experiences any breath shortness; it is crucial to discontinue use of this drug immediately and seek medical attention. My granddaughter had a slight fever and a cough sense yesterday. The fever is gone but the cough is still there. I gave her some cough drops which didn’t work. Her cough became more consistent. Her mother gave her Tussin, a cheaper version of Robitussin. Now she’s vomiting. Is this a sign of Whooping Cough? She’s 7 years old

Female | 7

This typically occurs when a person coughs so much, it makes them sick to their stomach. In children, particularly in toddlers, this can be alarming. It is an infectious disease characterized by coughs that produce a “whooping” sound. It is caused by bacteria and affects the respiratory system. If left untreated or not properly managed, it can cause serious complications, especially in young kids.
