Daily Nutrients vs. Targeted Nutrients: How ACTIVIT ONE Combines Both

By Sanya Shukla| Last Updated at: 5th Oct '26| 16 Min Read

Overview

If you have ever looked at a supplement routine, you probably noticed something a little strange. One vitamin is taken every day. Another might be taken once in a while. Then there are nutrients that come in much higher doses than you would normally expect from a daily multivitamin.

So why isn’t everything simply taken in the same amount every day?

The answer is simple: not every nutrient is required in the same amount.

Different nutrients play various roles in your body, and they do not need to be supplemented in the same way.

Therefore, multivitamins contain them in different forms and varying amounts to fulfill your body’s needs. Supplements may also come in different formats (capsules, powder, solutions, and tablets) and can be taken at different times or frequencies.

That difference is one reason behind the idea of combining daily and targeted nutrients in one system.

What Are Daily Nutrients?

Those essential nutrients that you need daily are called “daily nutrients.”

Take, for example, vitamins like vitamin A, B-complex, and C, and minerals like zinc, magnesium, and iron, which play important functions in your body, and you need these nutrients in your daily routine for normal bodily functions.

And a multivitamin may bring them together in one daily serving.

So, if you take a daily multivitamin, you don't need to take each nutrient separately; otherwise, you would have to take several supplements, which can be inconvenient.

However, supplements are not meant to replace a balanced diet. Rather, they can be used as part of an overall approach to meeting nutritional needs.

Then What Are Targeted Nutrients?

Targeted nutrients are a little different. But how?

Some nutrients are supplemented separately. The reason: they may be required in varying amounts at different times.

For example, you may have observed separate vitamin D supplements.

You may wonder why they are kept separate.

Firstly, vitamin D does not dissolve well in some formulations; secondly, the dosage of this nutrient may be recommended according to personal needs. Sometimes, supplements are also recommended to those with vitamin D deficiency.

Why Not Put Everything Into One Daily Tablet?

It sounds convenient.

Put vitamin D, B12, minerals, and every other nutrient into one tablet and take it once a day. Problem solved.

Except that formulation is not always that simple.

Different nutrients can have different dosage considerations. Some are naturally suited to daily inclusion in a multivitamin, while others may be provided separately at a different strength or frequency.

This is where a multi-component approach starts to make more sense.

Instead of forcing every nutrient into the same format, each component can have a specific role.

Vitamin D Is a Good Example

Vitamin D provides several health benefits, like supporting calcium absorption, bone and muscle health, nerve function, and the immune system.

And the natural sources of vitamin D are very limited.

For example, you can get vitamin D from sunlight and fortified foods naturally; that’s why this nutrient is taken in the form of supplements.

However, larger amounts of vitamin D are not automatically better. Why?

Because excessive intake can be harmful.

B12 Can Follow a Different Pattern Too

Vitamin B12 is another useful example.

It serves many functions in your body, such as DNA and red blood cell synthesis, and normal nerve function.

Unlike vitamin D, you can obtain B12 from your food, like meat, eggs, fish, and dairy products, but some health conditions and medications may disrupt B12 absorption in your body.

That’s why standalone B12 products often provide much larger amounts. The NIH notes that 500 to 1,000 mcg of vitamin B12 is safe.

So again, the question is not simply “daily or not daily?”

It is also about how much, why, and in what form?

Where Does ACTIVIT ONE Fit In?

This is the thinking behind ACTIVIT ONE.

Rather than treating every nutrient as if it belongs in one identical daily dose, it uses three components:

The multivitamin serves as the daily foundation, bringing together vitamins, minerals, and additional nutrients in one daily serving.

  • ACTIVIT-D is the targeted vitamin D component.
  • ACTIVIT B12 is the separate B12 component.

How the Three Components Are Taken

The routine is designed around those different roles.

When to takeACTIVIT ONE ComponentHow to take
Day 1ACTIVIT-DConsume the full oral solution with a meal.
Day 2 onwardsACTIVIT B12Take 1 chewable tablet before breakfast.
Day 2 onwardsACTIVIT MultivitaminTake 1 tablet after breakfast.

To Sum Up

Daily nutrients and targeted nutrients do not compete with each other; rather, they work together to support your nutritional needs.

A daily multivitamin can provide a broad nutritional foundation.

On the other hand, individual nutrients such as vitamin D or B12 can be provided separately to target your special nutritional needs, which may not be fulfilled with just one multivitamin pill.

That is the idea behind ACTIVIT ONE: one system, three components, different nutritional roles.
