In 2020 ultrasound showed a complex ovarian cyst on one ovary measuring 3cm. The other cyst was normal. There was followup after three months with u-s and mri that showed no increase in size. No further follow ups. I read that complex cysts are at risk for malignancy, particularly for older women, and require monitoring. Wouldn’t that mean every six to twelve months? So my other questions are if EVERY complex cyst should have monitoring? And is it recommended to have oophorectomy and possibly hysterectomy assuming good health with no preexisting conditions? Hello Doctor, I am sharing details about my father, who is 64 years old. He has always lived a healthy lifestyle — he regularly practices yoga and meditation, does not eat outside food, and quit smoking 15 years ago. However, in the last 6–8 months, he has experienced a sudden weight loss of around 10 kg and has developed a lump in his neck. He had tuberculosis around 30 years ago and completed 6–8 months of treatment at that time. Because of that history, he initially thought that TB might have returned. He recently underwent a CT scan.
