Why do u loose your voice for no reason
Female | 52
When you lose your voice without any clear reason, it's called laryngitis. Your vocal cords swell up, making you hoarse or quiet. This happens due to loud talking, singing, or catching a cold. To recover quickly, avoid talking much, sip warm drinks often, and inhale steam. Within a week, your voice should return to normal.

Dear Doctor, I'm an 18-year-old male. About 15-16 days ago, I had a really bad cold with symptoms including a sore throat, headache, and fever. After 7-8 days, my cold symptoms healed, but I still had a sore throat, hoarse voice, a completely blocked right ear, and I was constantly coughing up green mucus. Four days ago, I visited a doctor and was prescribed moxifloxacin 400mg once a day for 5 days (today is day 3). While my coughing has generally decreased, I still have a sore throat and my right ear is still blocked, although it did briefly open for a few minutes yesterday. This has been ongoing for three weeks, and I'm starting to lose hope as I'm not sure what I have or if I'll get better. In addition to moxifloxacin, here are the other medications I'm currently taking: Nasacort AQ (once a day) - today is day 6 Phenadone (twice a day) - today is day 8 Nexium (once a day) - today is day 6 Ganaton (three times a day) - today is day 6 Seretide Accuhaler Diskus (twice a day) - today is day 8 Polymer Adult Hypertonic 3% (twice a day) - today is day 3 Could you please help me understand what might be causing these persistent symptoms and advise on any further steps I should take? Thank you for your assistance.
Male | 18
When someone coughs up green phlegm, that means they have an infection. Your condition may be because of a stubborn bacterial infection which will need more time to completely clear up. Take your medicine as prescribed and ensure you finish the full course of antibiotics. If your symptoms continue or get worse then I think it’d be wise for you to go to an ENT specialist so they can conduct further tests on you.

I'm a 21 year old female experiencing serious pain around the ear-neck region and I'm to prepare for a test tomorrow but I can't even study due to the pains
Female | 21
It might be helpful to know that the pain you feel in the ear and neck might have been caused by an infection in the ear or neck muscles that are too tight. Additionally, pain gets even worse when a person is stressed sometimes. Try to take some time off your studies and relax, use a warm cloth or over-the-counter painkillers may relieve this pain. Ensure you get enough sleep too. If this continue, please consult an ENT specialist.

I just have an academic question. Is antibiotics for ear infection met with PPI?
Male | 19
With an ear infection, you may feel pain, pressure, and muffled hearing. Antibiotics are commonly used to cure ear problems derived from bacteria. Among the medications used to treat ear infections, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are usually not included. Moreover, you are even encouraged to consult with an ENT specialist if you suspect any ear infection, and then a proper treatment plan will be recommended.

If I have ulcers inside my throat, what should I do and which medicine should I take?
Male | 18
You might have throat ulcers if swallowing or talking causes pain and it feels like there are sores. These ulcers can occur due to infections, acid reflux, or certain medications. Avoiding spicy, acidic foods and drinks is crucial for healing. Gargling with warm salt water can provide relief. Staying hydrated and consuming soft, easy-to-swallow foods aids recovery. However, if the discomfort persists, over-the-counter pain medication may be necessary.

Ear infection and vertigo in head
Male | 36
Ear infections may give you vertigo, making you dizzy and feel like the room is spinning. Since infections impact your inner ear's balance mechanism, this happens. Ear infection symptoms are ear pain, hearing issues, and drainage. Your ENT specialist might prescribe antibiotics and recommend resting to treat the infection and vertigo.

I was suffering from viral fever in the last week. On 30th December 2024 i felt symptoms of Eustachian tube dysfunction (even have sinus issues) and yesterday for the first time i had a pain in the mastoid bone of my ear, it's swollen and red too and the pain in spread out in my half face (upper jaw teeth pain), neck pain and all... In the past i had issues related to TMJ where while chewing my jaw used to get locked and have suffered serious neck ache like the one I'm having right now in addition to the pain in throat (especially while swallowing).. do i have mastoiditis??
Female | 17
You seem to have a few very worrying symptoms, which are earache and swelling, that are a hint at an ear infection and, in some cases, mastoiditis. Your facial, neck, and throat discomfort may be connected as well. The matter of getting you checked out is to have all aspects of your position estimated. Your history of TMJ and headaches could be the other causes of the discomfort. There are treatments that could work, such as those that lessen the swelling and the pain, and they may produce the result you want. Finally, the accurate examination must be conducted by a physician.

Female | 28
A cold can be expressed by symptoms like a stuffy nose, sneezing, and sore throat. You may be having a cough and/or a runny nose as well. To help your body recover, you should rest, drink plenty of the right kind of liquids like water and warm tea, and to relieve the discomfort of the sore throat try over-the-counter medications like throat lozenges or saline sprays.

There must be concern about the lumps on your tonsil. They might mean an infection, for example, tonsillitis, which will make the throat swell and hurt. Additional signs could be trouble swallowing, fever, and halitosis. Whatever the lumps are, see an ENT specialist to get them treated.

Thorat itching since 6 days
Male | 25
Six days of throat itchiness is dreadful. Allergies, dry air, and infections can cause an itchy throat. Coughing or sneezing may also occur with this symptom. The itchiness can be relieved by drinking warm liquids, using a humidifier, and keeping hydrated. If it does not go away or gets worse visit an ENT specialist.

I had a runny nose 2 days ago so I took panadol that has 30mg pseudoephedrine. It stopped running within 1 hour. But yesterday I woke up in the middle of the night with a blocked nose and it would only clear up when I stood up. Today I still have a congested nose no mucus. When I close my mouth I can’t breathe through my nose at all
Female | 25
It sounds like you may be experiencing nasal congestion, which can result from various factors such as allergies or a mild viral infection. The blockage while lying down could be due to gravity affecting nasal drainage. Staying hydrated and using a humidifier may help ease your symptoms. Over-the-counter saline sprays are also beneficial for relieving congestion. If your symptoms persist or worsen, I recommend consulting a general physician to rule out any underlying issues.

It looks like your left ear is infected. Ear pain and trouble sleeping might be the result of the infection you have. The ear is the most common site of infections and sometimes the yeast infectious ways matched can be compatible with some types of bacteria. Ensure that the ear is clean and dry. Throat swelling with a cold fever can mean your body is fighting an infection. These symptoms may consist of a sore throat, trouble swallowing, and being tired. Usually, it is caused by viruses, such as the flu. Warm fluids, resting, and perhaps the use of lozenges may be beneficial. If the symptoms are getting worse or persisting for a long time, it is better to consult an ENT specialist to check for any complications.

I am experiencing symptoms including a runny nose, swollen eyes, ear pressure, sudden sneezing, and occasional breathing problems. These issues began around 2009, when I was in matric, and persist today, August 23, 2024. I have tried various anti-allergy medications such as Baydal, Fexet D, Telfast D, and Mytika over the years, but they only provide temporary relief. This week (August 20, 2024), I used Fexet D, Azomax for 3 days, and steamed with Vicks for 3 days. In the morning and at night, I sometimes notice a white fluid dripping from my head to my nose, and it occasionally affects my chest, throat, and eyes. It appears you are going through allergic rhinitis, which is responsible for your runny nose, swollen eyes, ear pressure, sneezing, and breathing difficulties. These symptoms have been persisting for a long time despite trying different medications. The allergy shots that you are receiving may have expired, thus not giving you enough relief. Seek consultation from an allergist to review your treatment plan and consider updating your allergy shots to manage your symptoms effectively.

I'm curious to know whether i have heard problem or no
Female | 20
The cause of this can be a result of, for example, ear infections, loud noises, or simply getting older. For instance, some symptoms that one may experience involve difficulty following the conversation, asking others to repeat themselves, or increasing the volume of devices. You can go to an audiologist for a hearing test. If needed, an audiologist can suggest many products from wearable hearing aids to an implanted hearing device.

I went to a ENT specialist last week who removed some earwax plug from my right ear. Since last week my ear feels itchy inside sometimes, whenever I start being active with it (moving it or touching it with my finger). What can be the cause ? Probably not earwax as I went to the doctor last week.
Male | 31
The ear getting treated for wax buildup is fantastic news! However, itchiness in the ear canal post-procedure may occur. This results from skin irritation caused by disturbance during cleaning. Don't insert objects or scratch inside your ear. This discomfort should subside naturally. But if symptoms worsen, consult your ENT specialist immediately.
