Questions & Answers on "Neurology" (952)

I tend to jump to worse case scenario but I recently got diagnosed with vertigo caused by middle ear fluid and recently it’s came back since where I am the weather has gotten worse and my vision is kind of blurry sometimes and I have a hard time focusing on someone when they are talking how likely is it that this is being caused by a brain tumor and not the middle ear vertigo or am I just completely over thinking this

Female | 21

The blurry vision and the difficulty in focusing can be the vertigo that the ear fluid causes. It is common and it does not mean that you have a brain tumor. The ear fluid can mess up your balance and vision. Usually, it gets better on its own, but you might need medicine or special exercises if the problem keeps bothering you.

I’ve had a headache for the past five days. Usually behind the eyes and sometimes a stabbing pain behind the head.

Male | 19

This is a common type called a tension headache. These types of headaches can cause pain behind your eyes. They can also make you feel a stabbing pain at the back of your head. Stress, bad posture, or lack of sleep often cause them. Try to relax and drink lots of water. Do some easy neck stretches too. If the headaches keep happening, talk to a doctor.

Hello Doctor, My name is Ayman. On December 25th, 2023, I suddenly experienced severe, unexplained pain in my neck. The pain quickly spread down my spinal cord, and I lost strength in my hands, making it impossible to move them. I began sweating profusely. Despite being weak, I managed to walk to the car, but my condition worsened on the way. I struggled to breathe, fainted, lost control of my legs, and my lips turned blue before arriving at the hospital. Once at the hospital, I was admitted to the RCU (Respiratory Care Unit) and intubated. Two weeks later, a tracheostomy was performed. During my 75 days in the RCU, I received the following treatments: 1. Plasmapheresis with 50 bottles of Albumin. 2. IVIG therapy (68 bottles). After 75 days, I graduated from the RCU. My recovery began slowly: • My hands started moving again, though they remained numb. • My legs also started moving, but they were extremely numb. I was prescribed Pregabalin 75 mg to help with the numbness in my legs. However, after taking the medication, my legs stopped working again. I was readmitted to the RCU for 3 days and remained under observation in the hospital for a total of 6 months. Eventually, my breathing improved, and I was discharged. I have been home for the past 6 months I can't stop and go This is my current health status. Thank you.

Male | 37

SURGERY is the most effective treatment for Schwannoma. The goal is to remove the entire tumor.. If the tumor is too large or is in a difficult location, RADIATION THERAPY may be an option. There are also MEDICATIONS that can be used to alleviate symptoms. It's important to consult a specialist in treating this type of TUMOR... Recovery time varies, but most people can resume their normal activities within a few weeks... Regular follow-up appointments will be necessary to monitor the tumor's growth...India has some of the best hospitals to treat this type of issues, find the beast feasible location for you

I am 28 years old male. I am having severe throbbing headache on the sides of the head as well as on the eyes. I also have swelling on my eyelids. i have extreme headache when i bend down or sneeze/cough. I also have nausea and vomited x3-4 times today

Male | 28

It may sound like you have a condition known as sinusitis. Sinuses get inflamed when spaces around the nose are filled with too much mucus due to colds, flu, allergies, or other conditions. This can lead to pain in your head especially when you lean forward or cough/sneeze; it also causes swelling in the eyes, nausea, and vomiting. To feel better try using warm packs on your face and take pain relievers that can be bought over the counter. Keep yourself well hydrated and rest enough too. In case these signs don't go away, you should see a doctor who will check them out further and treat them accordingly.

I have a daughter whose development has been a bit late since she was little. She could only lie face down after she was 1 year old and then she could walk around 3 or 4 years old. Her development is slow but she is currently in grade 11 at school, but her mental ability is very weak. Her IQ is below 100. Her right hand, right leg and arm are stiff. The sole of the right foot tilts inward so it is difficult to walk or not like a normal person. What I hope from this treatment is that she right side can function normally. Because now you need help to clean after menstruation or after defecating, considering that the only thing that can be used normally is only the left hand, and even then it is not very active.

Female | 18

Your daughter's symptoms are typical of cerebral palsy which causes a lack of muscle coordination and also results in mobility problems. Those symptoms you named are the cause of an extra motor diagnostic test to be done, like hip reflexes to be tested, and a tossed foot drop. The most optimal way is physiotherapy to do work on muscle tone or strength and loosen tightness, to let your child move properly. In the case of consistent therapy, she will grow more independent and be able to use her muscles more easily so she can join you in activities.

Prostrate gland enlargement treatment

Male | 63

Prostate gland enlargement treatment depends on the severity of symptoms and whether or not a person is generally healthy. Mild cases can be treated with lifestyle changes and medications, while severe cases may need to undergo surgery. A health professional should be sought for proper evaluation and treatment.

I can't smell any thing I can't get any taste of food my head is paining alot

Male | 18

You seem down about not smelling or tasting. Plus, that headache is tough. A cold or sinus issue might cause this. Stay hydrated. Rest up. Try decongestants and antihistamines if needed. But if it worsens or lingers, see a doctor.

The vein on the right side of my head has been twitching for a few days.

Female | 29

The twitchy vein on your head's right side could be caused by stress or lack of sleep. Too much caffeine might also make it happen. Eye strain and being dehydrated are other possible reasons for twitching veins. Be sure to drink enough water, get proper rest, and try reducing stress levels. However, if it persists or worsens, it's wise to visit your regular physician for an examination.
