Questions & Answers on "Pulmonology" (407)
This is actually about my mother. 5 days ago, she started having these flu-like symptoms; coughing, extreme fatigue, phlegm, wheezing, headache, chills, and fever. The fever is now gone, but she still has all the other symptoms. She had a chest x-ray that came back perfectly fine, and tested negative for COVID, so it’s not that. She hasn’t really improved, but she hasn’t gotten worse either. Could this be the flu?
Female | 68
The best thing you can do is make your mother rest, take a lot of fluids, and use drugs that can relieve her of any symptoms that are associated with over-the-counter. Make sure she takes syrup, water, tea, etc. to keep herself hydrated especially since she might not have much desire for them due to coughs being experienced hence causing dry throat. Please visit a pulmonologist for further treatment.

This question is about my mother, 60 years old, with influenza type A that unfortunately led to viral pneumonia. She's hospitalized for the past 4 days, her flu seems to be subsiding, but the pneumonia is not. I am worried and I just wanted to know if she's gonna be alright doctor.
Female | 60
Viral pneumonia takes longer to get better compared to the flu. I’m glad that she is recovering from the flu. Symptoms of pneumonia include difficulty breathing, productive cough, and chest pain. To cure the infection, antibiotics will be administered among other drugs. She needs to have enough rest and time too. Therefore, follow the doctors’ instructions and be patient with her.

You may have an allergy to the lungs which makes you cough, wheeze, and feel shortness of breath. Dust, pollen, or pet dander are some of the things that set off these allergies. The symptoms usually persist and disappear, even with the treatment. Take your prescribed medications regularly, avoid the triggers, and see a pulmonologist regularly for better management.

I was wondering I have been having shortness of breath and coughing up tiniest bit of blood and light yellow phlegm and it stinks
Female | 17
These symptoms, along with yellow phlegm with a foul smell, could indicate a lung infection or pneumonia. Both viruses and bacteria can cause these issues. It's crucial to see a doctor quickly for a proper diagnosis and treatment. They can prescribe the right medication, likely antibiotics, to combat the infection.

Your cough sounds very intense. A severe cough can signify illnesses like chest infections, throat infections, allergies, or asthma. Stay hydrated, use a humidifier, and take cough medicine if required. If it persists, see a pulmonologist. Severe coughing fits are difficult. Coughs sometimes indicate underlying conditions. The symptoms you mentioned, such as hoarseness, difficulty speaking, and ear pain, could be post-viral laryngitis. It is one of the possible post-viral complications following a viral infection like COVID. Make sure to rest your voice, drink plenty of fluids, and steer clear of irritants such as smoking. If the symptoms do not go away, it is a good idea to visit an ENT specialist for a more detailed examination and treatment.

Been having a cough for 2 weeks finished my antibiotics I do vape
Female | 21
A respiratory specialist or pulmonologist might be the one to consult given a persistent cough for the past 14 days after you have completed the course of antibiotics. Vaping can aggravate the airways and increase respiratory problems; hence the doctors must do a thorough evaluation to put the conditions right.

I just recently got sick on the 12th and I thought it was getting better but know I feel like it’s getting worst I have a lot of pressure on my throat area anytime I exhale I tend to cough
Female | 28
A throat infection could be causing your breathing issues. Swollen glands create pressure in the throat, and coughing helps clear germs. Drinking warm water, resting, and gargling with salt water can relieve discomfort. If symptoms persist, see a pulmonologist.

I gradually noticed black mucus and blood spots while cough I had completed 6 months tb medicine
Female | 23
It's understandable to be concerned about noticing dark mucus and blood while coughing, especially after completing your tuberculosis treatment. These symptoms may occur due to irritation in the airways, residual effects of the infection, or other underlying issues. It's important to monitor your symptoms closely. I strongly encourage you to consult a pulmonologist for an evaluation. They can conduct tests to determine the cause and suggest appropriate treatment.

Bacche mein balgam jamne se khaansi, thaaki, ya breathing mein dikkat ho sakti hai. Yeh aksar viral infections ke natije mein hota hai. Ceclor drops do din se diye hain, lekin agar improvement nahi ho raha, to kuch aur samasya ho sakti hai.

I'm having cough especially while sleeping it gets more it never leaves to sleep
Female | 30
Night-time coughing can disturb your sleep. It might be caused by irritants in the air or conditions like post-nasal drip or acid reflux. Either way, it’s frustrating! You can try propping your head up while you sleep, and a humidifier might help, too. Staying hydrated is also a good idea. However, if the coughing doesn’t go away, talk to a pulmonologist about it.

Problem of short breathness,
Male | Srinibash roy
Dyspnea can be caused by various factors such as anxiety, asthma, allergies, or an underlying heart or lung disease. Some of the more ordinary indications may be a feeling of contraction in your chest, a fast heartbeat, and a feeling as if you can't get enough air. It's very important to get to the heart of the matter. Simply trying out activities such as deep breathing exercises or keeping yourself in a state of calm and maintaining good body posture can help. Nevertheless, I suggest you consult a gynecologist to make a thorough check-up and offer you the help you need.

I am suffering continuous cough which colour is white and also body aches. Feeling chest tightness and also coughing up white or clear mucus in the morning and after take spicy foods but cough is not gone. when I go in kitchen during Cooking or dust environment area I feeling suffocating and also sneezing. When I shouting my voice is make understand that cough store in my lungs. I like eggplant vegetables lover and most of the time I consume eggplant.
Male | 33
It sounds like you are experiencing a combination of respiratory symptoms, likely related to an allergic reaction or sensitivity to dust or certain foods, which may be exacerbating your cough and chest tightness. The white mucus suggests your airways may be reacting to irritants. To alleviate symptoms, try to avoid spicy foods, ensure good ventilation while cooking, and consider using an air purifier. Staying hydrated and using saline nasal sprays can also help. However, given your persistent issues, I recommend consulting a pulmonologist for a thorough evaluation and personalized treatment plan.

Male | 24
The problem you've got could be a respiratory infection. Coughing up blood or hemoptysis is when your blood vessels in the airways are irritated thus, the blood is released. Rest. Drink. Fluids. A hard no for smoking and polluted air. You can also use a humidifier, it will moisturize your throat and alleviate your cough. Nevertheless, in case the symptoms persist, or get worse, you are to consult a doctor for a proper evaluation and treatment.
