Right bundle branch is blocked, 20 mm ostium Secundum atrial septal defect with left to right shunt & Mild pulmonary arterial hypertension, Is it possible to recover without any surgery?
Hello, Looking at your wife's condition we are of the opinion that she has a 20 mm ostium secundum atrial defect. The good news is, that having a 20mm ASD is not an emergency case. The treatment can be postponed for 3 to 6 months.
There are basically 2 types of procedures for ASD Closure:
- Surgical
- Device closure
In case of device closure, you can discharge the patient in 2 days and this treatment is done by using a small needle that passes through the groin. In this type of treatment, the patient can resume her daily activities immediately post-treatment. Surgical closure is done in patients who are unfit for device closure. Hope this answers your query. You can consult cardiologists for second opinions - Cardiologist in India.
