Questions & Answers on "Endocrinology" (382)

I am 24 years old I have thyroid symptoms

Female | 24

This is a gland in the neck that can cause tiredness, weight gain, and loss, or feelings of anxiety and depression. When too much or too little hormone is produced by this organ these symptoms may arise. To confirm the diagnosis, go for some blood tests at the doctor’s office. If there is an issue, don’t worry – there are treatments available that will help to balance the levels of thyroid hormones within your body.

Pt. with pcos with enlarged follicles

Female | 19

Not only this, but PCOS might also lead to extreme hair growth, acne, and irregular periods. This is one of the reasons for the proliferation of this syndrome with unbalanced hormones. Nutritious food, exercising, as well as staying at a healthy weight can help to manage the symptoms. In addition to the above, medications and hormone therapy administration may help regulate the hormones and attain fertility.

Hello, I have high anxiety. My anxiety likes to convince me that whenever I start to feel hungry, my blood sugar is dropping even if I ate 3-4 hours prior. I don’t have any blood sugar issues, I’ve gotten tested for it before. To put my anxiety at ease, how does blood sugar drop?

Female | 17

Low blood sugar can sometimes be caused by not consuming the food for a very long time or some underlying health issues. Consuming meals and snacks at regular intervals has a positive impact on your blood sugar levels and definitely reduces your anxiety.

Potassium level is 5.4 in june 29th report and on 26th july level is 5.3 is medication required

Female | 57

Your potassium levels are slightly high, but there's no need to worry. High potassium levels in your body might not cause any symptoms, but a weak or irregular heartbeat could be a sign of it. Possible causes include diet, certain medications, or kidney problems. To lower your potassium level, you can try changing your diet or consult your doctor for advice.

My Vitamin d is 5. Is this very low and what symptoms i might feel in daily life?

Female | 29

A Vitamin D level of 5 is quite low. It can lead to symptoms like tiredness, muscle weakness, bone pain, and getting sick often. This can happen because your body needs Vitamin D to stay strong and healthy. You can increase your Vitamin D level by spending time in the sun, taking supplements, and eating foods like fish and eggs that contain Vitamin D.

Hi I’m a 23 year old female, I got few test done which says I have UTI and a prolactin level of 33, HCG <2.0, TSH 1.16. Can I know the reason of it ?

Female | 23

UTI means Urinary Tract Infection which can give rise to such symptoms as pain during urination. Prolactin level 33 could be high affecting periods and fertility. HCG <2.0 means you are not pregnant. TSH 1.16 is normal for thyroid function. UTIs can be cured by antibiotics while elevated prolactin may require further assessment by a doctor to determine its cause.

I HV been diagnosed with thyroid level 4.84 and TB gold as >10 infection.what does it mean

Female | 38

Your thyroid is 4.84, it is slightly elevated which shows that there may be an issue with your thyroid. Moreover, TB Gold >10 suggests a possible infection of tuberculosis. These signs may differ, for instance, fatigue, weight gain or loss as well as coughing up blood could all indicate this disease. The cause is either malfunctioning glands in the neck region or exposure to TB bacteria through inhalation into one’s lungs. Therapy involves drugs that normalize hormone production by these organs and anti-TB medications if necessary.

Before I share my worries I have to always note that I am a childhood cancer survivor Osteosarcoma I am now 19 and I was diagnosed at 11, I have been free from cancer since 13 years old I have worries of having cushin disease, I show all the symptoms and researched on YouTube by various videos of different doctors speaking of the subject. I gained a lot of weight in such a rapid speed even though I was very skinny, no matter how heathy I eat eating enough protein, cutting gluten and diary out as well as sugar I feel like i keep gaining weight. I have a fat pad at the back of my neck and the fat seems to go to my back and stomach, have awful bruising on my feet sometimes, horrible exhaustion by just lifting my arms and my bones sound like they crack a lot. Alongside many other symptoms like insulin resistance a doctor noticed due to darkening to my neck, but diabetes was ruled out when I went to a doctor and she said she did see many signs of a hormonal issue just by looking at me, referred me to a endocrinologist. I suspected high cortisol because i have dealt with a history of psychological issues such as diagnosed depression. I am suffering and will see this specialist soon, but my general blood lab tests have been “normal” before, I have read out of fear of not being heard by my doctor that lab tests sometimes do not show abnormal cortisol levels if the cortisol is not or condition of it is not too advanced I want to know all the tests that I need done that are necessary to be diagnosed, and what alternatives can I discuss with my doctors if the labs come out “normal” I am aware i need to advocate for myself sometimes I just dont know how to word it because of fear of seeming ignorant and like i know more than my doctor, I dont think this I just want my pain to be over! I think hearing advice from a professional would be best on how i can best approach advocation for my health.

Female | 19

The symptoms you're experiencing could be related to Cushing's disease. It's important to discuss the necessary tests with your doctor to get an accurate diagnosis. These tests include a cortisol urine test, blood cortisol levels, and an MRI to check your pituitary gland. Cortisol levels can fluctuate, so multiple tests at different times may be needed for a definitive diagnosis. Even if initial tests are normal but your doctor suspects Cushing's disease based on your symptoms, further testing and monitoring might be required. Be open and honest with your doctors, ask questions, and express your concerns to ensure you receive the best care.

Am diabetic since 15 years. BP normal as am taking medication. I take insulin Actrapid 100 u 14-3-10 and toujeo 28-0-0 along with Sitagliptin OD 100. fp sugar 140-160 ,PP 210-220. I feel dizziness in evening between 6 and 7. That time sugar level is 140-160. Is it because sugar variation. If eat something dizziness goes. Is it because of insulin

Male | 73

Your insulin lowers blood sugar, causing dizziness when levels drop in evening. Eating raises blood sugar, helping dizziness. Consume snacks before 6 pm to test if it improves. Persistent dizziness requires discussion with healthcare provider. Small adjustments may make big difference. Frequent monitoring helps regulate sugar fluctuations. Maintaining stable levels prevents dizzy spells. Seeking medical guidance ensures proper care.

Female | 24

Estrogen dominance and high testosterone levels can lead to symptoms like mood swings, weight gain, and irregular periods. These imbalances may arise from factors such as stress, diet, and hormonal changes. Incorporating flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, beans, and sesame seeds into your diet can be beneficial as they provide essential nutrients and may help support hormonal balance. However, it’s important to listen to your body and consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice.

I am 37 years old male my hba1c is 5.9 is that mean i have dieabtes which type

Male | 37

A blood glucose test result of hemoglobin A1c level 5.9 tells you that your blood sugar level is a little bit higher than normal but it doesn't automatically mean that you are diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes may cause you to have a dry mouth, go to the bathroom too often, and feel extremely hungry. The origin of these can be both hereditary and lifestyle.

I have been experiencing joint pains, PCOS, vitamin deficiencies, and mental health issues for the past 4 years. joint pains are exacerbated by activities like walking and standing. I have self-tested for deficiencies and are afraid to visit a doctor joint pains and muscle pains are rated at a severity level of 9 out of 10. I have noticed neck darkness, pimples on your face, and excess underarm fat and darkening. I had plantar facilities and breast abscess and bartholin cyst in past history.

Female | 25

Many symptoms are bothering you. Inflammation in the body causing joint pain may be related to PCOS and vitamin deficiencies. Hormonal imbalances could be one reason why your neck has become darker along with the skin underarms. A good way to reduce these signs is to eat balanced meals regularly, exercise often, and manage stress properly. If necessary, you should also take care of yourself more than anything else by seeking help from a medical professional.

Female | 19

Your complaints of irregular periods, weight increase, and fat around the belly may be a result of your hormones being unbalanced. Hormones in the body are the communication agents that regulate several functions such as our menstrual cycle and weight. It is vital to consult a doctor who will find out what the problem is and prescribe the needed treatment. They may offer lifestyle changes, medicines, or other alternatives to regulate your hormones and improve your health.

Male | 19

During puberty, it's normal to notice more hair on your legs, hands, and chest, along with a growth spurt. These changes are part of becoming a teenager and are not caused by masturbation. Instead, focus on healthy habits like eating well, exercising, and getting enough sleep.
