I had unprotected sex last in 2022, I did a hiv test last year October 2023 and tested negative,I wasn't exposed to any sexual activities,do I need to get tested again ?

Female | 26

If you had unprotected intimate relations in 2022 and your HIV test was negative in October 2023. You are not required to take another test as long as you haven't been risky since then. HIV symptoms sometimes show up late, so if you feel something out of the blue, like inexplicable weight loss or too many infections, then it's good to get tested again.

Low hemoglobin A2 , weakness

Female | 30

Low hemoglobin A2 causes weakness and fatigue. Your body lacks iron. Insufficient iron happens when the diet lacks iron-rich foods like beans, spinach, red meat. Boost hemoglobin A2 by discussing iron supplements or diet changes with a doctor.

My uric acid test report 5.9 please tell me ok not ok

Male | 29

The uric acid level of 5.9 is already above normal. It might remain asymptomatic at first, yet if untreated, it may lead to gout, which is characterized by pain and swelling in the joints. Your uric acid level can be decreased by drinking more water, avoiding alcohol, and less red meat and seafood. Besides this method, exercising regularly may also be beneficial.

I went to general check and blood test. I got CEA test level 8.16 I don't smoke or drink. Reason for it. Is it normal

Male | 55

CEA stands for Carcinoembryonic Antigen, a protein produced in the body, and the levels of it in the body may be high because of different causes such as inflammation or infection. Usual symptoms are unusual with a slight increase in CEA levels, but further tests and monitoring are also often necessary. It’s important to visit your healthcare provider to find out the exact reasons for your condition and the best ways to fight it.

Am 16 and I am severely underweight and really low iorn like it's 74.4 and my hemoglobin droped from 14 to 10 and too i feel dizzy many times

Female | 16

It sounds like you're experiencing symptoms due to low iron levels and decreased hemoglobin. This can lead to feelings of dizziness and fatigue, as your body isn’t getting enough oxygen. Underweight issues might also contribute to poor nutrition. To improve your situation, focus on a balanced diet rich in iron sources like leafy greens, beans, lean meats, and fortified cereals. Alongside dietary changes, consider foods high in vitamin C to enhance iron absorption. It’s essential to speak with a healthcare professional who can evaluate your condition and possibly recommend supplements or further tests for personalized care.

I would like to have my blood test result be explained to me. Thank you

Female | 60

One of the crucial parts of your well-being is your capability to interpret blood analyses. Usually, these outcomes are the source of several pieces of information, among them vitamin amounts, the equilibrium of hormones, as well as signs of inflammation and infection. Disorders like chronic discomfort, tiredness, and weakness can be regarded as typical consequences of a certain hormonal imbalance. Discrepancies, on the other hand, might come from a wide range of reasons including poor nutrient intake through cardiology to some internal blockage. It’s the duty of the doctor to enumerate the results which patients require to be aware of and to advise them according to their particular situation.

If hb is11.28 Iron21 Tibc 533 Transferrin saturation 4% Is it severe ida

Female | 19

Your hemoglobin is 11.28, iron is 21, TIBC is 533, and transferrin saturation is 4%. These results do suggest a low iron level, which could indicate iron deficiency anemia. This means your body doesn't have enough iron to make sufficient red blood cells, affecting oxygen transport. It's essential to address this to prevent symptoms like fatigue and weakness. I'd recommend increasing iron-rich foods like spinach, red meat, and lentils in your diet. Additionally, your doctor may suggest iron supplements. Regular follow-ups will help monitor your levels and adjust treatment if needed.

Hello, Doctor. I hope you're doing well. I recently had the opportunity to review my aunt's blood test results, and I was concerned to see that her neutrophil count is extremely high. Could you please explain what this might mean? Is it possible that she has an infection or a chronic disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease? Alternatively, could it be indicative of a more serious condition like cancer? Or perhaps it's related to a side effect of some medication she's taking? I would greatly appreciate your insight into this matter.

Female | 45

A high neutrophil count can indicate inflammation or infection in the body and may be linked to conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease. Certain medications can also cause an increase. If your aunt has symptoms like fever, fatigue, or pain, it's important to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

I am loosing weight continuously and getting slim like anaemia patients skin is so dull and sagging and I feel dizzy sometimes, get tired easily can't sit longer because my blood cells stops working so I have to move every moment

Female | 23

Anemia results from a deficient number of healthy red blood cells in the bloodstream. Low red blood cells mean asthma, dizziness, and quick weight loss. Your skin can also become pale and saggy. More spreadsheets with foods high in iron such as spinach and beans are advisable. Your doctor can also give you iron pills to increase the number of red blood cells.

Dear Doctor, Due to my father's high blood viscosity, suspicion of polycythemia arises, necessitating blood draws every 3 weeks to maintain appropriate levels. At 69 years old, he experiences symptoms such as skin itching, swelling, head numbness, and fatigue. Currently, his JAK2 V617F mutation showed 0.8 then 1.2%, with JAK2 exon 12 negative and EPO at 13.4. Abdominal CT and chest X-ray are normal. After a few months of phlebotomy, his levels normalized. Now, we await the bone marrow biopsy results, which do not confirm Polycythemia Vera: "Microscopic description: The bone marrow biopsy sample shows somewhat hypocellular hematopoietic parenchyma relative to age, which is terminally mature. Myeloid ratio is 2:1 with dominance of late precursors; no blast cells are noted. The number of megakaryocytes is normal with no clustering. There is no interstitial fibrosis or lymphoid infiltrate. Diagnosis: Mature, hypocellular hematopoietic parenchyma without myeloproliferative features. Cytogenetic analysis confirmed male karyotype; no clonal chromosomal abnormalities detected. Indication for examination D7510 Secondary polycythemia Note Submicroscopic rearrangements, small structural chromosomal aberrations, DNA-level differences cannot be ruled out with the method used." I am quite confused as JAK2 positivity typically suggests PV, yet the biopsy suggests otherwise, possibly indicating secondary polycythemia. Could you please clarify based on this information what you personally think is more likely, Polycythemia Vera or another secondary cause? Thank you very much for your help.

Male | 67

Your father's symptoms and test results do suggest some complexity. The presence of JAK2 mutation often points towards Polycythemia Vera (PV), but the bone marrow biopsy does not show typical myeloproliferative features, suggesting it might be secondary polycythemia instead. Consult a hematologist, specializing in blood disorders, and can provide a more accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
