Can retinitis pigmentosa lead to optic atrophy?

As per my understanding, you want to know whether retinitis pigmentosa can lead to optic atrophy. Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is rare degenerative disease affecting the rod photoreceptors in the retina. The optic disc in RP may show optic atrophy, usually defined as a 'waxy pallor' of the disc, and is assumed to be a due of photoreceptor degeneration. Consult an ophthalmologist to rule out the cause in your case and to also guide you for further course of management. You can refer - Best Ophthalmologists in India, to sought consultation!

Is it ok to change mono focal lens to trifocals lens

Unlike monofocal and bifocal lenses, trifocal lenses also provide comfortable intermediate vision, which is important for various daily activities, such as computer work. With trifocal lenses, you can perform a range of activities in everyday life without glasses. This includes daily tasks such as: reading, working on computer and watching TV (examples given to suggest the distance). The trifocal lenses for cataracts cost in india can range from INR 30,000 to INR 60,000 per eye.

Kindly consult an ophthalmologist for further guidance and treatment, this page could help you out - Best Ophthalmologists in India. Hope our answer helps you.

I need to know the rates for Cataract surgery. Which different type of lenses?

The cost of cataract surgery in India ranges between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 1,00,000. Price variation can be attributed to type of surgery opted for and location of hospital.
As per our knowledge, there are types of artificial intraocular lens:
Monofocal: If you don’t suffer from astigmatism, then a monofocal lens can be used to correct a single vision range. For example, if you are nearsighted, and have troubles seeing a computer, or even if you are are farsighted, a monofocal lens will efficiently treat either of these problems. Additionally, monofocal lenses don’t have any glare or halos at night, which can make you feel more confident while driving in the dark.

Toric: Toric lenses can be used for patients with astigmatism. They correct near, intermediate, or farsightedness.

Presbyopic-Correcting: Above lenses can only correct one area of your vision, presbyopic correcting can be used to correct two or more vision problems at once.
If you want second opinions or other kind of guidance then you have us, but additionally, you can also connect with Cataract Surgery doctors in Mumbai, or those based in any other city you are comfortable with.

I am a 46 year old female..from few months I had observed puffiness around my eyes.. especially around lower eye lid..but now from few months it's seen on the upper eyes lid of my right eyes. Could it be just age related or some other reason.

It is likely that the puffiness around your eyes can be age related.  But certain medial conditions can also cause puffiness such as thyroid problem, allergies etc. Please consult a doctor if the puffiness worsens or does not go away.

My son’s eye is to red. This problem was in last summer also.

Has the red eye problem been prevalent since the last summer? Or was it there last summer but went away and returned this year again?
If the answer to my former question is yes, then you need to show your son to a doctor as soon as possible. But, if the answer to my latter question is yes, while that to the first question is no, then there are some things that you can still consider.
Red eye isn't necessarily a serious matter, but if your son matches any of the criteria mentioned below, then it might be cause of worry:
- Symptoms last longer than 1 week

- changes in the vision of your son's eyes

- pain in your son's eyes

- your son's eye has become sensitive to light

- discharge from either or both eyes of your son

- your son is on blood thinning medications, such as heparin or warfarin

- your son is having a headache and have blurry vision

- your son ends up seeing white rings, or halos, around lights

- your son is having nausea and/or vomiting
If your son's condition is serious, then we advice you to visit our page - Ent/ Otorhinolaryngologists in India, and get in touch with experts who will provide guidance. Do reach out to us anytime you feel confused
