A full package master for the transgender category is being put together by NHA (National Health Authority), encompassing the current Ayushman Bharat PMJAY programme (AB PM-JAY) and special packages like SRS (sex reassignment surgery) and treatment for transgenders.


As stated by the government, the national health insurance programme covers free and cashless treatment for 480,000 transsexual people.


Once decided, eligible transgender beneficiaries can receive free medical care and surgery at any hospital that has been appointed around the nation.

  • Two self-certified passport-sized photos
  • A newspaper declaration in which the person's gender change has been reported
