Questions & Answers on "Orthopedic" (1360)
Hi..I am a 39 year old female and slipped and fell on a wet floor at a function that I attended. However my foot started swelling up and my knee and the side of my knee is painful and swollen although I can walk with a limp so I don't think anything is broken...could it be Muscle injury or tendons etc...
Female | 39
According to the symptoms you are going through, it is likely that you bruised your knee or your muscles or tendons around it got injured. This might present as a combination of swelling, pain, and immobility of the leg Lie down while putting your feet up, apply a cold compress to the area, stretch your leg, and wrap it with a long elastic bandage to reduce swelling. If the pain persists, replays, or intensifies, or you find it hard to bear its weight, go to the orthopaedist.

I have pain in both hands(3 inches above and below the elbows) and legs(5 inches above and below the knees). Not bone pain as I feel good if I try to restrict my blood flow. I always wear knee and elbow caps for pain relief. As far I remember I'm suffering from this pain for almost 13-14 years. Currently, I'm 20 years, I'm was being told it was due to the growing stage. Earlier I had vitamin D level 7 but now it is 30 but still, the pain is not gone. I have pain almost daily, I will feel lucky I don't have pain that particular day. If I walk for long or stand or play, or do something intense then the intensity of the pain will be unbearable sometimes due to pain I can't even sleep at night. In my test report, I have everything normal. Tests I have done so far are ASO TITRE, Anti-Nuclear, CPR, HLA B profile, Anti-CCP, Phosphorus, CPK, URIC ACID, CALCIUM, GLUCOSE, VITAMIN D AND B-12, THS, CBC, Alkaline Phosphate, Potassium, LDH, Magnesium.

Is it fracture when I uploaded xray
Male | 33
Sometimes, fractures can be seen on X-rays, but not always. It really depends on the type of fracture and how clear it appears on the image. Fractures happen when there's a break in the bone, usually due to injury or trauma. If you suspect a fracture and it's not visible on the X-ray, it might be necessary to follow up with your orthopedist for further evaluation. In the meantime, it's essential to rest the affected area, apply ice if there's swelling, and avoid putting weight on it.

I am a 17 year old female with a diagnosis of bertalottis syndrome which I take co-codamol 8/500 and an anti inflammatory for. For about 2 years I've been experiencing chronic pain in my wrists, knees, ankles and elbows. The pain is usually about a 3/4 usually and its an achey/strong pain but it often gets more intense like a flare up where it can go from a 6-10 where I am unable to move the affected body part.
Female | 17
You may face issues linked to Bertolotti's syndrome. Dealing with ongoing pain in various joints is not unusual with this condition. The achy, intense ache you describe, coupled with flare-ups, is a frequent symptom. Collaborating closely with an orthopedist to investigate diverse treatment choices that could enhance symptom management remains crucial. Exercising and physical therapy may prove advantageous too.

Male | 37
The condition you are experiencing could be sciatica. Sciatica is caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve in your leg. This can result in pain and discomfort in the thigh and make it difficult to walk or sit. You can do some gentle stretching exercises, apply cold packs, and rest. If the pain continues, consult an orthopedic specialist.

Pain in buttocks to bottom of the leg after periods
Female | 21
This kind of pain may happen from sciatica. Sciatica is when a nerve in your back gets bothered. It is common for this pain to come after your period because of changes in your body. To help with this, try using a hot pad and doing easy stretches to feel better. If the pain keeps going or gets worse, it is good to talk with an orthopedist to find more ways to treat it.

Hand problem my elbow is gone to fracture
Male | 25
Your elbow might be broken. When the elbow is broken, you can feel pain, see swelling, and can’t move your arm easily. Fractures may occur by falling or putting too much pressure on the joint while doing some activities. A cast or sling may be required for your elbow to heal, but sometimes an operation is necessary too. Don't forget to follow up with an orthopedist.

I am not feeling well and felt like dizziness in the early morning and also my back gets stiffed in the morning. Please suggest me a solution over my problem??
Male | 23
Seems to be like you may have vertigo and a little bit of tightness in your back. Vertigo can make you feel like you’re off balance or that things around you are moving. As for the back, it could be from how you’re sleeping or sitting. Try to drink more water and stretch gently right after waking up. If this continues to happen, assess your sleeping position among other factors that may affect your general well-being.

Lower back pain due to a herniated disk can cause pain in the lower abdomen and testicles. Get medical attention for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Treatment may include rest, physical therapy, medications, and, in severe cases, surgery. Avoid self diagnosis and consult an orthopedic for personalized care.

My feet have been in pain for 3 weeks should i get a x ray Should I go out in sunlight
Male | 22
An X-ray can be a solution in giving information if there is any problem that needs to be addressed, but nodal swelling, contusions, and mobility running are some signs of these pains. In other words, if the sun is both good for you and needed for the building of your vitamin D, still let your feet be in a good position and wear comfortable shoes. Thus, the most vital requirements are to ensure you have a good rest, apply cold to the painful area, and elevate your legs. I recommend you seek medical advice from an orthopedist to undertake a thorough examination and receive a customized prescription.

I got my acl and mcl surgery 4 weeks ago and now I walk without any support or knee brace it is safe or not ?? And today at bending my knee I hear a cracking sound it is possible of break the repaired acl
Male | 24
A cracking sound heard during knee flexion may raise a red flag. It might be caused by the rupture of scar tissue or movement of the joint. However, don't be frightened. Initially, it is not likely that the repaired ACL has been torn again. Still, though, for your good, stay away from practices that hurt or cause any discomfort. Keep being careful, and maybe set up a visit with your surgeon to check that everything is okay.

I'm 21 year old female i had chicken guniya 1.5 month ago but my ankle and wrists still have very bad pain in morning i cannot walk probably and sit in bathroom even moving toes and instep also hurt.
Female | 21
This prolonged pain can result from inflammation caused by the virus, which may take time to resolve. Gentle movement and heat application can help alleviate stiffness. Consider using over-the-counter pain relief if approved by your healthcare provider. Staying well-hydrated and maintaining a balanced diet may also support recovery. However, since symptoms persist and significantly impact daily activities, I recommend consulting an orthopedist for a thorough evaluation. They can provide tailored treatment options to help manage your discomfort effectively.
