Knee Replacement: Types Of Knee Replacement Options
Depending on your condition’s severity, your healthcare team may suggest either of the following:
- Total Knee Replacement (TKR):
This surgical treatment entails replacing both sides of the knee joint.
It is a frequent medical procedure that lasts between 1 and 3 hours.
The operation reduces discomfort, increases stability, and improves movement.
However, the surgery creates scar tissue that can occasionally make movement and knee bending difficult.
- Partial Knee Replacement (PKR):
- This surgical procedure involves the replacement of either side of the knee joint.
- It necessitates a smaller incision through which a small portion of a bone is removed.
- It is appropriate if you damage only one side of the knee and have a higher possibility of keeping natural movements.
- Less blood loss means fewer infections and blood clots.
The hospital stay and recovery period are usually shorter.
- Kneecap Replacement (Patellofemoral Replacement)
A patellofemoral joint arthroplasty is performed if your kneecap is injured.
- A damaged kneecap is replaced with this treatment.
- The operation is appropriate for approximately one in every forty persons with osteoarthritis.
- It recovers more quickly.
- Complex Or Revision Knee Replacement:
- It is used if a previous replacement procedure has failed.
- It necessitates the removal of an already implanted artificial knee joint and the implantation of a new prosthesis.
- The most common reasons for revision knee replacement are severe arthritis, substantial knee deformity, or compromised knee ligaments.

I am 18 years old male and trigger finger problem for last 2 days and 10 hours in totally 58 hours, can please help me
Male | 18
When you have trigger finger, a tendon in your finger becomes inflamed, making it difficult to move your finger smoothly. Symptoms include finger stiffness, clicking, or locking in place. This condition can result from repetitive gripping motions or other medical conditions.
To help alleviate symptoms:
- Relax your finger.
- Perform gentle exercises.
- Apply warm compresses.
These techniques can help manage the condition, but if symptoms persist, consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment options.

It's for scapula problem
Female | 17
Scapula is the big bone in your upper back area - the shoulder blade. Scapula issues arise from overexertion, poor posture, or injury. You might experience sharp pains, stiffness, or arm mobility issues. Try gentle stretching exercises, apply ice packs, and take pain medication for relief. However, it's crucial to rest your body and avoid activities worsening the condition. If discomfort persists, consulting an orthopedist would be advisable for proper guidance.

Recently I started doing yoga again, and ive immediately been reminded why i stopped before. Basically some stretches feel fine, like once in the sides of my torso. But some other stretches i feel nothing at all, like if i put my soles together i can keep my knees fully on the floor and lie all the way forward and still feel absolutely no stretch, this is what most stretches feel like. But then some other stretches hurt WAYY to much, most importantly my hamstrings, i cannot lean even a bit forward with my legs straight and it already hurts like heck. I have no improvement in my hamstrings when doing more "gentle" yoga stretches, but then when i tried pushing myself a bit more in stretching my hamstrings, it would start hurting in my knees so much when i walked, almost like a pop or click with every step. Recently i considered the possibility of possibly being hypermobile, i can put my pinky fingers 90 degrees up, i can reach my wrists with my thumbs and i can do that thing where i lock my hands together behind my back and can put them over my head without letting go. I also get a strange uncomfortableness/awareness in my joints sometimes, not even a pain just uncomfortable. So basically my question is, do you think im hypermobile? and if so how (if possible) can i still do stretches/yoga without either feeling nothing or feeling intense pains? And is there any way i can get rid of the uncomfortableness in my joints?
Female | 19
It sounds like you may be hypermobile, which means your joints can move more than usual. You might have less stretch during yoga or feel intense pain in some stretches as symptoms. Instead of pushing too hard when stretching, focus on gentle moves for flexibility because this can help protect your joints. Also, make sure not to do any position that causes discomfort or hurts.

If my toe is purple does that mean it's broke
Female | 29
Sometimes a purple toe might indicate that it's broken. Other symptoms of a broken toe include pain, swelling, and failure of the toe to move. A few of the reasons your toe may be hurting is you dropped something heavy on it or hit it hard. To make it easier, rest your toe, apply ice, elevate it, and take pain medicine. If the pain is strong, you should contact an orthopedist.

I have swelling in my right knee
Male | 26
Your knee can get swollen and the image may be affected by injury, arthritis, or inflammation. Pain, stiffness, and heat around the area are common symptoms. Get relief by taking the calf rest, using the ice, and elevating your leg. Over-the-counter painkillers can be useful in shrinking along with other medications. Resting for a period with some easy physical activities will even speed up the process of healing. By contrast, if the swelling persists, exacerbates the problem, or shows also other symptoms then you are recommended to consult an orthopedist.
