Hello, I have one patient in my family who is suffering from a brain injury for one year due to an accident. Now, he is completely paralyzed with speechlessness. We need your valuable support for the treatment guidelines.

Hello Abhay, As details given by you, it's been a year since your relative had an accident wherein he suffered from injury to his brain. It is definitely a serious injury which has lead to total paralysis and loss of speech over time. Recovery of the patient depends on his age, associated comorbidities (illness), and on the gravity of the injury. You need to consult a neurologist at a higher centre. He may need a team of doctors to evaluate this case. So please consult a neurologist first and then decide on treatment. Most important in your case is bedside care of the patient till you further decide on his treatment. Wish the patient a speedy recovery. Hope our answer helps you. Hello, I am from Guwahati (Assam) and my age is 50 years. For the last 12-13 years, I am having a problem with writing. During writing, my hand tremors a lot and therefore I have very bad and illegible handwriting. Since the time when I started experiencing this problem I have been visiting several neurologists in Guwahati but till today I am still experiencing the same problem. I have been told by my Doctors' that it is a case of weakness in my Finger nerves. Kindly advise me what I should do to overcome my problem or suggest to whom can I be consulted for my problem?

Hello, As per medical history given by you, we understand that you have shown to many doctors but with no help. You can still consider a neurologist's opinion. But sometimes these kinds of symptoms can also be stress or anxiety related. So we would suggest you kindly consult a psychiatrist too. He will assess your case and if there is no underlying medical cause he may help you. Moreover, there are many therapists who work on the development of muscle strength. A psychiatrist may be of help since there is a possibility of a lot of stress and anxiety build-up due to long illness. Wish you a speedy recovery. Keeping in mind that you require a holistic approach for this disorder, we are linking following pages for you hoping that it will help - a.) Psychiatrists in India, b.) Best Neurologist in India.

Hello, my Mother in law (70 years) is suffering from misbalancing and in-coordination of feet movement which has severely worsened during last 3 years. All the pathology test appears are normal. The sensory test is also normal. There is an uncontrolled trembling that occurs frequently. Now, this symptom is gradually being observed in the upper limbs also. Progressive myelopathy with no medication available has been diagnosed by a Neurologist. What are the options available for the treatment?

Bracing, physical therapy and medication are treatments for mild myelopathy and mainly reduce pain, allowing you to return to your daily activities. Nonsurgical treatment does not remove the compression. Spinal decompression surgery is a generally preferred treatment for myelopathy to relieve pressure on the spinal cord. A surgery can also be used to remove bone spurs or herniated discs if they are the cause of myelopathy. For advanced myelopathy caused by stenosis, a surgical procedure to increase the channel space of your spinal cord (laminoplasty) recommended. Consult a spinal surgeon - Spinal Surgery doctors in Mumbai, you can also search for a different city.
