How can one tell physical signs and symptoms of hiv/aids before going for a test....

Answered by Mitali Pawar

Signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS include flu-like symptoms, skin rash, weight loss, recurrent infections, fatigue, night sweats, and swollen lymph nodes. However, these symptoms can occur with other conditions as well. So proper HIV testing is necessary to confirm an HIV infection. If you suspect you may have been exposed to HIV, it's important to consult with a healthcare expert or visit a testing center for testing and guidance.

I have been having high fever for a few days and yesterday, I visited the doctor. From my blood test, he explained that I don't have a bacterial infection since my Neutrophils level is within the normal range. However, he did prescribe me the antibiotic amoxicillin and today I found out amoxicillin is used to treat bacterial infections. I have already had 4 out of the 21 doses prescribed. I am aware that I need to complete all doses for antibiotics. I want to get a second opinion on whether this antibiotic will really be beneficial for me as right now, I'm just experiencing a lot 9f nausea

Female | 28

You need to finish the whole course of antibiotics prescribed to you. Even if the levels of your Neutrophil are in normal averages, your doctor may have placed you on amoxicillin as a preventive measure. If you experience too much sickness or any other concern with your drug intake, it is better to see your doctor or infectious specialist.

My wife's age is 22. She is having a fever and body aches since 2 days. She was taking paracetamol 500 mg tablet. From few hours, her fever is 103 degree and her body aches increases due to her fever. What medicine should administer to her now? and how to administer her medicines?

Female | 22

It's important to ensure your wife stays hydrated and rests. Continuing with paracetamol is fine, but she should take 500 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not exceeding 3,000 mg in 24 hours. If the fever persists or worsens beyond 103°F, or if she develops other symptoms like difficulty breathing or confusion, please seek medical assistance promptly. Monitoring her symptoms is key, and professional care will provide the best support. Rest assured, with proper care and attention, she should start feeling better soon.

Went to urgent care yesterday morning for fever, aches, and chills with no other symptoms. They gave me antibiotics for UTI. Having back pain that’s making me nauseous. Should I go to the ER?

Female | 37

You're dealing with back pain and nausea after a UTI treatment. Back pain combined with nausea could indicate a kidney infection. Kidney infections require quick attention. Going to the ER for an evaluation might be wise. They can diagnose the issue and provide the proper treatment.

My father got viral infection last month and lost 8 kgs weight...fever lasted for only 3 days and then after leg pain and swelling happened ...and suffered from constipation so dctr gave milk of magnesia to cure constipation...now constipation got relieved...is weight loss okay or we need to check with dct?

Male | 54

It's good that your father's constipation is better now. However, losing weight after a viral infection is expected as the body manages to defend against the infection. Mucous membrane pain and swelling might be due to the inflammation response of the body to the virus. Since the constipation is better and the fever is gone, it's okay. If the weight loss persists or if any new symptoms develop, see your doctor.

What does <20 means regarding HIV? Am I being exposed to HIV?

Male | 24

Your <20 HIV test result means that it was not detected in the sample of your blood. While this is true it should be noted that up to 3 months were needed for the virus to appear in the test. If you have a concern regarding HIV exposure, it would be best to schedule an appointment with an infectious disease specialist. He or she will do a proper testing and will guide you through the process.

These symptoms may show signs of diseases associated with the eyes. It is important to see an ophthalmologist in order to assess the underlying cause. The specialist will probably suggest imaging tests, eye exams or other diagnostics procedures to detect the problem and establish a treatment strategy. Don’t overlook these symptoms as they could be signs of severe health complications.
