Am I pregnant after experiencing blood in discharge?

Patient's Query

Hello, I am currently ovulation (day 15) and had a rush of discharge with red blood. Since then I have discharge with some blood? My partner and I had protected sex the day before my period. Should I be concerned about pregnancy? If not, should I see a doctor?

Answered by Dr. Nisarg Patel

Seeing some blood in your discharge can happen due to a few reasons. Sometimes it's just a bit of irregular bleeding from hormonal fluctuations. If you had protected sex, the chances of pregnancy are lower, but not impossible. However, if you're worried, taking a pregnancy test can offer some clarity. If the bleeding continues or you have any other symptoms, it's a good idea to see a gynecologist. They can rule out any underlying issues and provide personalized advice based on your situation.

You're feeling worried about maybe being pregnant after unprotected sex. Three days it is still really early on. Some signs of early pregnancy can be feeling sick, tired, or sore breasts. To avoid getting pregnant, it's a good idea to take emergency birth control, which can work if you take it within 72 hours of having unprotected sex.

Female | 21

After the intercourse if you had periods in March, April, and May, on March 5th, it's unlikely that you're pregnant, as regular periods suggest otherwise.
