Could I be pregnant if I missed period?

Patient's Query

I have missed period and I m sexually active and i don’t want to become pregnant

Answered by Dr. Nisarg Patel

When a period is missed, there are a few common reasons, such as stress, hormonal imbalances, changes in weight, or underlying health conditions. To rule out pregnancy, the first step would be to take a home pregnancy test. If it's negative and your period still hasn't arrived, it's a good idea to see a gynecologist for further evaluation. They can help determine the cause and provide guidance on contraception options to prevent pregnancy in the future.

I am Sana from manipur. i m 20 yrs old. i have been paining one of my breast for 1 year. by the test i have taken recently, it is confirmed that there is a cyst in my breast.also my hair is fallen abnormally. my question is that- is it breast cancer? if yes, what stage it is? is completely curable? what is the immediate step i have to be taken?

Female | 20

A breast cyst is usually not a sign of breast cancer. If your recent tests have confirmed the presence of a cyst, your doctor may recommend additional imaging tests such as a mammogram or ultrasound to evaluate the cyst and determine what is causing the pain.

"I had sex with my boyfriend on September 7th, right after my expected period date of September 6th, but my period hasn’t arrived yet. We initially had unprotected sex but used protection for the rest of the encounter. I’m concerned because some of his semen may have touched my vagina when I was wiping it off. Given that my menstrual cycle is usually 28 days, could this delay in my period be due to the recent sexual activity, or should I consider taking a pregnancy test?"

Female | 18

It is not typical for your period to be a bit late after having sex. Stress, changes in routine, or even normal hormonal shifts could all lead to the delay of your period. If you're concerned about being pregnant, you can use a pregnancy test to clear your worries.

It would be good to find a gynecologist and seek medical care if your periods are missed. They can be caused by stress, hormonal imbalances, or pregnancy. It is also vital to hold a talk with someone trusted like a counselor or adult about that experience.

I am suffering from white discharge doctor after period

Female | 18

It's quite common to undergo a period discharge in white color after your period. It may be your body's self-cleaning method. Yet, if the discharge has a potent stench, is thick and lumpy, or triggers itching or burning, it might be a symptom of a yeast infection. These infections are generally treated with over-the-counter medications such as antifungal creams or suppositories. The use of water and cotton underwear that can breathe easily as well as drinking is the key to your body healing faster.

I notice a painful lump between my anus and vagina. I can feel it through my anus and it hurts when I sit and stand. Also have frequent bowel movements for months and haemorrhoids. The pain became severe yesterday

Female | 18

A painful cyst contained between the anus and vaginal opening that brings discomfort should be treated by a medical specialist. This may point at an abscess or infection and should be immediately attended to by a gynecologist or colorectal surgeon. Moreover, a doctor should also be consulted and the causes for regular stool or hemorrhoids investigated.
