Spotting while on birth control: causes and concerns

Patient's Query

Hi, i have been on birth control ( the pill Alessna) for years, im in between periods and over the past few days/ almost week i’ve had very light spotting m, not enough for a tampon but if i pee or wood there is slight blood, and if i wrap my finger with toilet paper and insert, there is blood….. what might this be?!

Answered by Dr. Swapna Chekuri

Spotting between periods on birth control is pretty normal. It may occur because your body adjusts to the hormones. Stress or missing pills cause it sometimes too. But usually, it's nothing serious. If bleeding gets heavier or lasts, see a gynecologist

Hello,My qurie is This month my period cycle is 36 days October 24 frist day of period December 29 is frist day of period Not every time but only this time 36days cycle So please tell me Which days is my entrcoarse days in December

Female | 29

It's common for cycles to vary a bit now and then due to factors like stress, diet, or lifestyle changes. So, the change to a 36-day cycle this time is likely just your body adjusting. Now, based on a typical 28-day cycle, your fertile window could be around December 10-15. However, since your cycle is longer this month, it might shift slightly. So, for the best chance to conceive, aiming for intercourse around December 8-17 would be a good plan. These are just estimates, and every body is different, so staying in tune with your body's signals is key.

I am 25 year old female . I have indulge in unprotected sex last week. 25th was my periods date but this month i didn't get my periods and in today morning i observed that i have pure white and tight discharge from my vagina. So i want to know what can i do now.

Female | 25

It sounds like you may have a yeast infection. If you have an infection, you may not get your period as a result of a hormonal imbalance. Yeast infections are often accompanied by white discharge. For relief, try using over-the-counter antifungal creams or pills. To avoid further infections, always practice safe sex from now on.

Female | 23

YES, DESOGESTREL decreases natural estrogen levels in the body. It is a type of PROGESTIN, which works by preventing ovulation. Since estrogen levels fluctuate during the menstrual cycle, desogestrel can also help regulate menstrual cycles. However, it's important to note that desogestrel does not completely eliminate estrogen in the body If you have concerns about your estrogen levels or the effects of desogestrel, it's important to talk to your healthcare provider.

My wife is at 39th week 3 days and baby weight is 3.7 kgs and doctor ask to come for admission after 2 days. She is afraid of Having Large Baby.

Female | 33

Feeling anxious is understandable, yet you're doing well! A baby weighing 3.7 kilograms at 39 weeks isn't worrisome. Larger babies might make delivery slightly challenging. However, your doctor closely monitors the situation. The suggested admission aims to ensure a smooth birthing process.
