Why is my left ovary causing pain?

Patient's Query

I've a dominant follicle of 1.14cm in left ovary, the left ovary is bulky 4.31×2.89×3.50=22.75 cc, and it's causing pain there

Answered by Dr. Nisarg Patel

It's actually quite common to have a dominant follicle during your menstrual cycle. This follicle is basically a fluid-filled sac that contains an egg, and it's necessary for ovulation to occur. Sometimes, a dominant follicle can cause discomfort or pain due to its size or the pressure it puts on surrounding tissues. In most cases, this pain is temporary and should resolve on its own as the follicle either releases the egg or shrinks in size. To help manage the pain, you can try using a heating pad, taking over-the-counter pain medication, and getting plenty of rest. However, if the pain persists or becomes severe, it's important to follow up with your gynecologist for further evaluation and management.

You should ask doctor prior to stopping Depo injections. The discontinuation of this type of birth control without due notice can result in abnormal bleedings and other side effects. Before making any alterations to your birth control system, it is advisable that you consult a gynecologist.

Female | 43

Women may undergo variations in the menstrual cycle but if you are experiencing periods after a short time it is an indication of some other underlying problem. For further evaluation and diagnosis, I would suggest consulting a gynecologist. They will be able to administer treatments that are specifically tailored for your condition.
