Why is my vaginal discharge thick and chunky?

Patient's Query

Hello, actually from past few days I'm not having any major symptoms as such but the vaginal discharge for few days is very thick it's like so thick that it does come down and recently I found out by myself that there is a layering present inside the vagina which is thick in consistency and is more like in chunks it's not creamy in consistency.

Answered by Dr. Swapna Chekuri

Thick vaginal discharge can sometimes be due to a few reasons. For instance, it could be a sign of a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis, which are common and treatable conditions. It's important to get it checked out by a gynecologist to confirm the cause and get the right treatment. In the meantime, practicing good hygiene, wearing breathable cotton underwear, and avoiding harsh soaps in that area can help.

When to take pregnancy test

Female | 32

If a person has symptoms such as tiredness, nausea, and breast tenderness because they missed a period then she can be pregnant and this would mean that the egg has attached itself to the lining of her womb. One should confirm this by testing using their early morning urine sample since it is more concentrated thus likely giving correct results.

Female | 24

Stress, weight fluctuations, and hormonal imbalance are some of the factors that can cause a delay in your period. As you had protected sex and your period is late only by 10 days, it is unlikely you are pregnant.

I am 27 year old girl ...I m unmarried but since 2 months .I have some problem in my private part which make me very uncomfortable ..I have itching and dryness problem in my private part ..

Female | 27

These can be caused by several factors such as the proper fit and way of wearing clothes use of fragrance products in the area. To treat your symptoms, try wearing cotton underwear, refrain from using fragrant products, and drink a lot of water as well. Besides, you might want to apply a very mild facial moisturizer suitable for that particular part. Clean it regularly and don't scratch to mitigate the irritation. Be well!

Hi dr I have one doubt… I am in first month of pregnancy and doctor advised me to take corpreg tablet instead of folic acid… So my doubt is which one is better… can I take both tablets together?

Female | 27

It is commendable that you are already looking for nice ways to care for yourself and your pregnancy. Folic acid is essential for a healthy pregnancy. It helps in reducing the incidence of neural tube defects in the baby. Corpreg is a supplement that contains folic acid and other vitamins and minerals. You can take the two pills in combination because taking corregar improves the baby's birth by adding extra necessary nutrients for the baby's development.

After 10 days of periods is there any chances of getting pregnant

Female | 24

After your periods for 10 days, it is less likely but still possible to get pregnant. Some women may have an ovulation disorder that will lead to them being pregnant in the early cycle. Symptoms such as abdominal pain or spotting may indicate that ovulation has occurred. To avoid the risk of pregnancy, you can either use contraception or refrain from engaging in unprotected intercourse during this period.

Female | 22

If your period is normally regular but it’s a little late this time, don’t panic – it could be due to stress, weight change or other reasons. Sometimes our bodies can be a little unpredictable. If you’re worried that you might be pregnant though – try taking a test just for peace of mind. Keep in mind that there are lots of things that can cause changes in your cycle.
