Why no periods on birth control but negative pregnancy test?

Patient's Query

I am on birth control pills and sexually active...this time i did not get my periods even on birth control...but i checked for pregnancy and it was negative...what should i do

Answered by Dr. Mohit Saraogi

It's actually quite common for birth control pills to sometimes cause changes in your menstrual cycle. In fact, stress, diet, illness, or even a hormonal imbalance can also play a role in disrupting your period. Here's what you can do: Firstly, continue taking your birth control as prescribed. Secondly, if you continue to miss your periods or have any concerns, it's a good idea to reach out to your gynecologist for a check-up. They can help figure out what might be going on and provide you with the best guidance moving forward.

My daughter had unprotected sex yesterday at noon and took an Unwanted 72 pill today at noon and just after taking the pill in her boyfriend's house, they had unprotected sex again. What are her chances of getting pregnant and how can she avoid pregnancy now? Please note that her periods are irregular and very delayed i.e. in a cycle of 3-4 months and we visited a doctor for that. Her last period was in mid December.

The pill reduces the chances of pregnancy, but it is not 100% effective. SSo there is still a risk of pregnancy. Its difficult to determine the timing of ovulation and fertility. please condult your doctor for evaluation.

I am 17 years old and am scared I might be pregnant. I used protection and checked for holes but I’m still concerned because I’m not on birth control and I took a pregnancy test 7 days after I had sex and it came back negative do you think there is a chance I could be pregnant

Female | 17

When a woman is pregnant, she might experience missed periods, nausea, and being constantly tired. However, stress can also bring these signs. Sometimes getting tested one week after intercourse may not give accurate results. If you want to be more certain, wait longer and do another test.

I haven't had my period for the past two months and I'm getting married next month. If my period comes late by two months, will there be any problem in my married life?

Female | 22

It is quite normal to be anxious when your time is late, but it is not the only factor that brings conflicts in a married life. Menstrual cycle irregularity could be due to stress, menstruation-related hormonal changes, or health conditions of the individual. If your period is overdue, the first step is to take a pregnancy test and see a doctor for further advice.

I tested positive and took abortion pill but light bleeding is abortion successful

Female | 26

You should see a gynecologist to check on the success of the abortion. Light bleeding, on the other hand, could be a post-abortion result that can be confirmed by visiting a professional.
