Laparoscopic appendectomyFrom 20,000 up to 4,50,000
Open appendectomyFrom 10,000 up to 3,80,000

Laparoscopic appendectomy:

In this surgery, a small cut is made near the navel, and a port is inserted through it. Through which a cannula is inserted. The cannula fills the abdomen cavity with carbon dioxide, which creates room for surgery and allows clearer images of the stomach cavity and its contents.

The cannula is removed, and the laparoscope is inserted. This allows the surgery process to be seen on the video screen, which assists the surgeon in discovering the appendix.

Open appendectomy:

A large cut is made on the lower right side of the abdomen, which helps separate stomach muscles and locate the appendix. If the appendix ruptures, abdominal fluid or swelling needs to be drained before the surgery. Normal saline solution is used to rinse the abdominal cavity.

A common process involved in both types of appendectomy is closing the appendix with stitches, detaching it from the intestine, and then finally removing it.

Questions & Answers on "Gastroenterology" (1499)

I recently had my gallbladder removed and have been experiencing digestive issues. What kind of diet should I follow to manage these symptoms?

Male | 37

Even after gallbladder surgery, diarrhea, bloating, or gas is a common problem. This happens because the gallbladder is one of the key players in the digestion of fats and without it, the body struggles with the digestion of fatty foods. Eating a low-fat diet is one way to lessen these symptoms. Try consuming more fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains. Avoid greasy, fried, and spicy foods as they can cause discomfort. Eating small, frequent meals throughout the day can also help. Your body might need some time to get used to the new condition, so have patience and monitor how it reacts to different foods.

I am a 21 year old. I am experiencing mild stomach cramping and need like pain. And sharp pain on my lower abdomen especially while urinating

Female | 21

It appears that a UTI might be the problem you’re having. UTIs sometimes lead to cramps in the stomach along with pain in the back or a sudden sharp pain in the lower abdomen when you urinate. These occur because bacteria have entered your urethra. You should drink plenty of water and take antibiotics. To avoid getting more UTIs, make sure to urinate after sex and keep good hygiene.

Male | 54

Issues like gassy bloating and acidity can crop up after operations. That's because of changes with medicines, stress, or new eating habits. Smaller meals, staying hydrated, and skipping spicy or greasy food might help. However, if it doesn't improve, he may need to check in with his doctor.
