Questions & Answers on "Obesity Or Bariatric Surgery" (66)

Hi. I'm a 24 year old male from the UK. I have been dealing with severe brain fog, shortness of breath, palpitations, forgetfulness and I am very obese (200kg). I am very concerned about the fatigue as it's not like me to feel like this. I got a blood test and vitals checked last month and everything is normal except I have mild LVH caused by my weight and my doctor isn't really that concerned. She just said I can reverse it by losing weight, I also have severe iron deficiency without anaemia as my haemoglobin is normal but my iron serum level is 5.4. My vitamin D levels are also very low. My concerns right now is I'm starting to feel stupid everyday and the fatigue is really concerning me. Can you give me some advice please?

Male | 24

I'm glad you reached out about your concerns. The symptoms you're experiencing, including fatigue and cognitive challenges, can often arise from factors like obesity, iron deficiency, and low vitamin D levels. Addressing your weight through gradual lifestyle changes—incorporating healthier eating habits and regular physical activity—may improve your overall well-being and help reverse mild left ventricular hypertrophy. Additionally, consider discussing iron supplementation and vitamin D with your healthcare provider, as these may alleviate your symptoms. It's important to prioritize your health, so don't hesitate to seek further advice from your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.

Lose 45kgs 1 kg in 1day i know this is not healthy and I don't care because it's urgent for me

Female | 16

I understand you want to lose weight quickly, but it's important to do it in a healthy way. While losing 1 kg a day might sound appealing, it's unsafe and can lead to health problems like dizziness, weakness, and dehydration. Instead, focus on a balanced diet, regular exercise, and be patient. Gradual weight loss is more sustainable and helps prevent regaining the weight later.

Side effects of bariartic surgery

Female | 47

Bariatric surgery can have both positive effects on health and potential side effects. The specific side effects can vary depending on the type of bariatric surgery performed, but here are some common ones:

Surgical risks: It includes infection, bleeding, blood clots, and adverse reactions to anesthesia.

Nutritional deficiencies:It impacts nutrient absorption and lead to deficiencies of iron, vitamin B12, calcium, and vitamin D. These deficiencies may require lifelong supplementation and close monitoring.

Dumping syndrome: Can occur after gastric bypass surgery, where food moves too quickly from the stomach to the small intestine. You may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and rapid heart rate after meals.

Gallstones: Rapid weight loss after bariatric surgery can increase the risk of developing gallstones.

Changes in bowel habits: Some individuals may experience changes in bowel movements like diarrhea or constipation, after bariatric surgery.

Hair loss: Temporary hair loss or thinning may occur due to nutritional deficiencies or rapid weight loss. This is usually temporary and can be managed with proper nutrition.

Psychological and emotional changes: Bariatric surgery can have a significant impact on body image, self-esteem, and emotional well-being. Some may experience depression, anxiety, or body image issues post-surgery.

There could be several reasons for being underweight, such as a fast metabolism, inadequate nutrition, or even certain health conditions. To build a healthier, fitter body, you can start by focusing on a balanced diet rich in proteins, healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables. Regular exercise, including strength training, can also help you gain muscle mass and improve your fitness levels. It's essential to consult with a nutritionist to create a personalized plan that suits your needs and goals.

Female | 33

It may seem to you that some health problems are a result of the quick loss of weight after the delivery of a baby. Being dizzy, having less breath, and feeling tired can be some signs that your body is trying to tell you it's not yet ready to recover. Eating healthy foods, keeping yourself hydrated, and getting enough sleep are the things that are of utmost importance.

It's natural to feel concerned about your weight, but remember that everyone's body is unique. It's important to focus on your health rather than comparing yourself to others. Visit a nutritionist or a dietitian who can guide you on a healthy diet and lifestyle.

It's great that you're seeking clarity on weight loss injections. Given your history of migraines and blood pressure fluctuations, it's essential to approach any new treatment with caution. Some injections may have side effects, particularly for individuals with past neurological issues or blood pressure concerns. I highly recommend discussing your specific health situation with a healthcare professional who can assess your medical history and current symptoms. I’m looking to buying a mounjaro weight loss pen as I’m struggling to lose weight I weight 17st and I’m 5f 3in tall I’m believed that I can order this online by a pharmacy but I would like to know how safe this is before I order

Female | 36

Weight loss might be tricky sometimes, and you should be careful about the online products that promise a quick fix. Sudden weight gain is usually a result of poor eating habits or can also be caused by some medical conditions. A balanced diet and exercise are the two best things that can improve one's health and reduce the possibility of getting overweight. If you have any worries, it would be best to see a doctor to get a treatment that suits you.

Female | 40

The changes in hormones and weight gain are natural processes that happen during pregnancy, and the victims of these are aches often caused by fluid retention or muscle strain. The activities that will help to ease her aches are gentle stretching, warm baths, and a sufficient amount of water to drink. Rest can help, also trying to put her feet up higher than the rest of her body will provide comfort.
