Is it safe to take Unwanted 72 after unprotected sex?

Patient's Query

My last period was on 20th September and before that it was on 14th August and i had done unprotected sex on 9th October and taken unwanted 72 tablet within 2hrs. Is it safe for me or what should i do???

Answered by Dr. Swapna Chekuri

Your last period was on 20th September, and you had unprotected sex on 9th October, but you took an emergency contraceptive pill within 2 hours, which is good. The emergency contraceptive pill, like Unwanted 72, works by preventing or delaying ovulation, making it less likely for pregnancy to occur. In most cases, taking it promptly increases its effectiveness. However, no method is 100% foolproof. It’s always a good idea to keep track of your cycle and consider regular contraceptive methods for future protection. If you have any unusual symptoms or miss your next period, it's wise to consult a gynecologist for further guidance and reassurance.

My wife is 9 months pregnant and her sugar level is high. So I need some suggestions and how she can have a normal baby in this situation or not. The last baby is already born by cesarean.

Female | 28

If your wife's sugar levels are high during pregnancy, it's important to consult a specialist, such as an obstetrician or a maternal-fetal medicine specialist. They can provide personalized advice and monitoring to help manage her condition and ensure the best possible outcome for both her and the baby.

Irregular spotting either before or after a period is the result of different factors including hormonal changes or stress, any kind of infection, or pregnancy. It is better to visit a gynecologist for detailed examination of the root of this problem diagnosed and treated.

Hi my name is Patricia,im 40 years of age i just want to know i had my periods just for 2 days and im getting nauseous and dizziness,i did 3 pregnancy test it show very light second line but clinic show negative can i be pregnant

Female | 40

It's possible that you may be pregnant, but you shoulld confirm with a doctor. Sometimes a very faint line on a home pregnancy test can indicate early pregnancy, but it's best to have a medical professional confirm the results with a blood test or a more sensitive pregnancy test. Additionally, there can be other reasons why you're experiencing nausea and dizziness, so discuss your symptoms with your doctor.

2 nights ago, I was going to have sex with my boyfriend. for 1-2 minutes he had a condom on, but it was too small and wasn’t working well. so we were going to have unprotected sex. we did this for about 30 second to a minute before he stopped, and said he couldn’t get hard enough. then we stopped completely. he didn’t finish, and was no where near being finished. but it was my first time ever having sex, so I'm nervous about it. and wondering if I could possibly be pregnant , or if I should take a plan b

The risk of pregnancy from unprotected intercourse increases if there is ejaculation, but it's still possible to conceive even without ejaculation. Consider taking a pregnancy test to confirm.
