Can I have sex with an implant during menstruation?

Patient's Query

Is it safe having sex while having an implant but going through menstruation ?

Answered by Dr. Mohit Saraogi

Engaging in intimacy during menstruation while using an implant is generally considered safe. Many individuals experience cramping, bloating, or mood changes during this time, which are normal symptoms. The implant effectively prevents pregnancy, but it's important to ensure you feel comfortable and relaxed. You may want to use a protective barrier to reduce the risk of infections, as menstrual flow can increase susceptibility. If you have any concerns about discomfort or unusual symptoms, it’s always best to speak with your gynecologist for personalized advice.

I had sex on last day of my period and i took a birth control pill but after 5 days i had little dark brown spotting for 2 days is this what?

Female | 19

It's quite natural for some mild spotting to occur after intercourse, especially towards the end of your cycle. The dark brown spotting you got could be some of the blood from earlier times coming out. It is nothing to worry about, and it sometimes occurs when your body is getting used to the birth control pill. It will probably pass away by itself in a little while.

Hello, I had sex on 7.8.2025 and I'm worried about the possibility of pregnancy. Let me explain to you in more detail. I've been on birth control pills for 10 months since last year. I take them at about the same time, sometimes I'm 2-3 hours late. I had my last gynecological examination in June 2025 and then she told me that my ovaries are as they should be when I'm on birth control. My intercourse started 3 days after my period ended, that is, on 1.8 I started and ended on 4.8 and the intercourse was on 7.8. 3 weeks after having sex, I had 4 days of bleeding that also had blood clots, I usually have that during my period and it was normal red blood and at the end it was brown. The bleeding started on 24.8 and lasted until 26 or 27.8. For the next two months I didn't get my period when I was supposed to, I had some kind of grayish discharge and maybe some brownish spot on the tampon, so it bothers me a lot. That sexual intercourse wasn't with a condom, but first it was vaginal, then anal, then vaginal, then anal, and it ended anal. I personally didn't feel him cum inside me. I don't have any symptoms of pregnancy, so I didn't even test because I would have had some symptoms, and I had that bleeding 3 weeks after intercourse. My cycle usually lasts 28 days according to contraception, and I have bleeding for 4 days

36weeks pregnant doctor advised that fpp test ultrasound.. what's the meaning of fpp USG?

Female | 27

FPP ultrasound, short for 'fetal biophysical profile ultrasound,' is a special test ordered by your doctor to check your baby's health at 36 weeks. This test evaluates your baby's movements, muscle tone, breathing, and overall well-being to ensure everything is normal. It's a routine test to confirm that the fetus is healthy and won't need any intervention.

I had sex 4 days before my periods my periods cycle is 30 days there is any chance of pregnancy

Female | 22

Having sex close to your period may pose a pregnancy risk because the sperm can last in the body for a few days. You're most fertile around ovulation, but it's hard to tell the exact time. If you miss your period or have symptoms like nausea or breast tenderness, you may want to take a pregnancy test.
