Why Do I Have Abdominal Pain After Menstruation?

Patient's Query

Female 34 years Ogun state Shagamu I'm having abdominal pain and scan said no abnormality seen I do feel the pain 10 days after my menstruation . I have make used of different infection drugs despite not seeing any discharge.

Answered by Dr. Swapna Chekuri

Typically, pain around 10 days after your period is because of ovulation or a condition named Mittelschmerz. It is the period when the egg is discharged from the ovary, thus the pain. At times, however, no structural anomalies appear in the scans. You must drink plenty of fluids, get sufficient rest, and consider using a heating pad to find relief. However, if the pain continues or worsens, consult a gynecologist.

It is highly likely that you are not pregnant because you mentioned that the test was negative. Nipple pain could be attributed to hormonal changes, stress, or even caffeine. However, if you are still concerned, it would be wise to pay attention to your symptoms and periods.

To manage PCOD talk to your doctor or a gynecologist for help. Lifestyle modifications, such as regular exercise and a healthy diet, can help. Also take medications as prescribed to regulate menstrual cycles and manage your symptoms.
