Hello, my mother's age is 54 years and she has been exhibiting dementia symptoms gradually for the last 3 years. Symptoms include short-term memory loss, cognitive decline, difficulty doing easy chores, etc. 1 year ago, an MRI was done which showed Brain Atrophy. She was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and treated with steroids but the cognitive decline is still happening. She is currently on brain supplements like Donecept which has not shown much effect. Please Advice.

Hello, The symptoms your mother is suffering is due to Hashimoto's called brain fog in which cognitive conditions, including memory problems, like dementia, or a lack of mental clarity, and an inability to focus are surfaced. Along with treatment do consider de-stressing and relaxing exercises. You should also consider a nutritionist as correct and timely eating will also be of great help. Correct eating and healthy gut are important. Timely sleeping will also help to reduce mental fatigue. You can take the opinion of an endocrinologist, nutritionist, and good recreational activity facilitator. Hope our answer helps you. You may refer our pages for same - a.)
