Why are my sore throat and blocked ear persistent?

Dear Doctor, I'm an 18-year-old male. About 15-16 days ago, I had a really bad cold with symptoms including a sore throat, headache, and fever. Four days ago, I visited a doctor and was prescribed moxifloxacin 400mg once a day for 5 days (today is day 3). While my coughing has generally decreased, I still have a sore throat and my right ear is still blocked, although it did briefly open for a few minutes yesterday. This has been ongoing for three weeks, and I'm starting to lose hope as I'm not sure what I have or if I'll get better. In addition to moxifloxacin, here are the other medications I'm currently taking: Nasacort AQ (once a day) - today is day 6 Phenadone (twice a day) - today is day 8 Nexium (once a day) - today is day 6 Ganaton (three times a day) - today is day 6 Seretide Accuhaler Diskus (twice a day) - today is day 8 Polymer Adult Hypertonic 3% (twice a day) - today is day 3 Could you please help me understand what might be causing these persistent symptoms and advise on any further steps I should take? Why do I have lower abdominal pain and period?

This could be brought about by a couple of things such as period pains or even digestive problems. Sometimes it can hurt in more than one place at a time. Menstrual cramps mostly affect the lower belly while abnormal digestion is characterized by similar signs. Taking less heavy meals, drinking a lot of water, and lying down might help make you feel better. In case it persists or becomes severe, it is important to seek medical attention from a gynecologist.

Why is my period 28 days late after protected sex and taking i-pill?

It’s common for emergency contraceptives like the i-pill to cause menstrual irregularities, including delayed periods. Stress and hormonal changes can also affect your cycle. For a proper diagnosis, please visit a gynecologist.

Developed yeast infection while taking Bactrim for skin?

This occurs when you take antibiotics such as Bactrim for a skin infection. Itching, redness, and strange discharge are all symptoms of yeast infections. To relieve these symptoms, try using an over-the-counter antifungal cream. You can also prevent yeast infections by keeping the area clean and dry. If the symptoms don’t go away, be sure to see a dermatologist.

Why do I have dull hip pain when walking/sitting?

It seems that you have muscle pain on the outside right hip region. This pain could have been caused by changing shoes. Muscles can ache if they are tense or strained. In addition, if you are too thin, your muscles may easily get tired. Put on supportive footwear, stretch gently and take a good diet so that your muscles can heal. Also, make sure to rest and avoid activities that worsen the ache.

How Can I get Rid of Pimples and Acne on My Face?

This can happen when your skin gets too oily, pores get blocked, bacteria grows in them or hormonal changes take place. To help get rid of them, you can try washing your face with a mild soap often, don’t squeeze them, and keep your hands off your face. Over-the-counter creams or gels with benzoyl peroxide/salicylic acid may also work for you. Consider talking to a dermatologist for more help.

How can I help my child's depression?

If your kids are crying easily, getting mad quickly, and can’t pay attention, they might have something called “childhood depression.” You did not cause this. It is nobody’s fault. One thing I would do is talk with a therapist/psychiatrist. There might be other ways doctors can think of to help your child and family.

Why are my sore throat and blocked ear persistent?

When someone coughs up green phlegm, that means they have an infection. Your condition may be because of a stubborn bacterial infection which will need more time to completely clear up. Take your medicine as prescribed and ensure you finish the full course of antibiotics. If your symptoms continue or get worse then I think it’d be wise for you to go to an ENT specialist so they can conduct further tests on you.

Why Am I Not Having Menstrual Periods Yet?

It’s not that rare for young girls to have irregular periods. Some reasons why your menstruation is late may include stress or hormonal changes caused by gaining or losing weight. Take it easy because this happens to a lot of people. Remember to eat well-balanced meals, get enough physical activity every day, and find ways to relax. However, if this condition continues for several months or if there are any other symptoms accompanying it, talk with a gynecologist.

Should I be concerned about rapid heart rate and chest pain?

It appears that your heart is beating fast, also known as tachycardia, which can lead to chest pains. Stress, caffeine, lack of sleep, or other medical conditions may cause tachycardia. You should see a cardiologist to find out the exact reason. In the meantime, try to stay calm, consume less caffeine, and get more sleep. If the chest pain becomes very severe then you must go for immediate medical help.

Can I Supplement Fish Oil as a Vegetarian?

As a vegetarian, if you want to include Omega-3 fatty acids in your diet, you should not use fish oil. What is in fish oil mainly comes from fish, and many people may find this unappealing. Instead, consider using flaxseed oil or algae oil which are obtained from plants. The two oils have similar benefits as fish oil but do not contradict with the vegetarian lifestyle.
