Questions & Answers on "Cancer" (374)
PET-CT scan impression report shows. 1. Hypermetabolic spiculated mass in lower lobe of right lung. 2. Hypermetabolic right hilar and sub carinal lymph nodes. 3. Hypermetabolic nodule in left adrenal gland and hypodense lesion in left kidney 4. hypermetabolic multiple lytic sclerotic lesions in axial & appendicular skeleton. Lesion in proximal end of femur is susceptible for pathological fracture. which stage the cancer might be in.? How far the cancer has spread?
Male | 40
The findings from this PET-CT scan suggest the presence of multiple hypermetabolic (actively metabolizing) lesions in various parts of the body. This pattern of findings raises concerns about the possibility of metastatic cancer, meaning that cancer may have spread from its original site to other areas of the body. The exact stage and extent of cancer would require further evaluation by an oncologist from the best cancer hospital in India, including additional tests and imaging.

I'd want to ask a few questions about colon cancer. My brother is a colon cancer patient and is undergoing chemotherapy. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and chest pain are usual symptoms.
Chemotherapy always has mild to moderate side effects. Nausea, Vomiting, hyperacidity and weakness are common side effects.
During the chemotherapy sessions and even after it some pre and post Chemotherapy drugs are prescribed to prevent or reduce these side effects. In case of extensive discomfort you should always consult your medical oncologist and seek his/her opinion

I am from Delhi. My father is 63 years old. We have suffered through the wrong treatment. In July, he was diagnosed with a spot in the right lung called a pulmonary nodule. And we were relieved to know that it was benign. Since mid-December, he has started falling ill several times and even lost appetite. Then two weeks back we asked for some tests again. We did a PET scan and some other tests and found that it is malignant and cancer has now spread across both lungs. We are all shattered by this news. We are about to lose him with the wrong treatment. Please refer to the best lung cancer doctor who can deal with this situation. We are not in a condition to trust a doctor based on reviews. Please help us. Please.
It looks like it was misdiagnosed. So, suggest you visit an oncologist and take the treatment forward

My father had to go through prostate gland surgery two times. First time in 2016 in Siliguri and 2nd one is from Amri Hospital, Mukundapur, Kolkata in 2021. Both the biopsy reports came negative. But the doctor said it might happen again. My question is if we had to operate another time, would it be cancerous?
Many a time prostate gland increases in size without any cancerous component called as Benign prostate hypertrophy which occurs due to age factor. Every time the surgery is done, some tissue is always sent for histopathological investigation which shows whether the disease is cancerous or not.
After any cancer surgery and chemotherapy sessions it is mandatory to have regular follow up visits with an oncologist to check any signs of disease. There are many side effects of surgery and chemotherapy which also has to be dealt with, that is the reason why even though cancer free but regular follow up is mandatory.
