The second successful case was in London, where the patient with Hodgkin's lymphoma and HIV virus was also in the advanced stage of cancer as the doctors decided attempted a stem cell transplant for their cancer and simultaneously attempt to clear HIV. And similarly they searched a stem cell donor with a rare genetic mutation of the CCR5 gene for the patient to make them HIV-resistant. The London patient stopped taking the medication 18 months ago and there is no sign of a return of HIV.
