Could recurring infected bumps on my leg indicate staph infection?

Patient's Query

Hello. The last few weeks I have experienced some infected bumbs on my left leg that reminds me of infected ingrown hairs. I got the first one around 7 weeks ago when I was visiting Asia, it got big, swollen, painful, with pus and at some point an open wound with blood. I went to the doctor there where I got to know it was either a insect bite or ingrown hair, and that it was infected, so I got antibiotics. It did disappear after some time but I didn’t take the last antibiotic pill because it was as good as gone. But now, some weeks later, more of these has started to reappear, like 3. They are not as big, but they have the same symptoms, and I start to wonder if it is connected to the first, because it is only on my left leg. I’m also scared of staph infection. What do you think it can be and do you think i should see a doctor?

Answered by Dr. Anju Methil

Based on your description, the first thing that comes to mind is folliculitis, which is when hair follicles get infected. This can happen from ingrown hairs or even from sweat or friction. The fact that you were in Asia could have exposed you to different environmental factors that triggered these bumps. Staph infections are a possibility, but it's good that you're keeping an eye on it. I would recommend seeing a dermatologist again to get a proper evaluation and maybe some more antibiotics.

Urjas oil lagane par jalan hota hai

Male | 36

Feeling a burning sensation after being oiled with Urjas is not unheard of. It could be because your skin is sensitive, or if you have any allergies to the components of the oil causing the reaction. Your skin reacting is a sign. To help with this, immediately cease using the oil, wash the area with a little gentle soap and water, and apply a soothing moisturizer or aloe vera gel. If the sensation persists, switch to a different product.

I am a 25 year old male and I have a skin condition around my testicles. It has been for over 2 years now. It appears to be a like a patch on the skin around my testicles. I recently got married 3 months ago. About a week ago, my crotch started giving out a pungent smell similar to that of chlorine despite washing it several times a day. Also, I observed small rashes on my scrotum and the skin peels when scratching it. Please I need your help.

You might have a skin condition known as tinea cruris, or jock itch. This is a fungal infection that often affects the groin area. Symptoms include red, itchy patches of skin, a bad smell, and peeling skin. It can be caused by sweating, tight clothing, or poor hygiene. To treat it, it is important to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose clothing, and use antifungal creams.
