It sounds like you may have a stye. A stye is a red, painful lump situated near the eyelid's edge. People may suffer swelling, tenderness, and at times even pus formation. Generally, bacteria are responsible for causing styes when they invade the oil glands around the eyelids.   You should administer warm compresses to your eye several times every day without squeezing or bursting the infected area to treat it. It might be wise to consult an eye specialist if no improvement occurs, or the condition deteriorates.
