Varikosel ve Kısırlık

Testis torbasındaki damarların genişlemesine varikosel denir. Bu damarlar kandaki oksijen eksikliğini testislere aktarır. Varikosel, kanın testis torbasının tamamında dolaşması yerine damarlarda birikmesiyle oluşur. Varikosel zayıf testis gelişimi, azalmış sperm sayısı ve varikosel ile ilgili diğer kısırlık sorunları ile sonuçlanabilir. Erkeklerin %10 ila %15'inde ergenlik döneminde varikosel gelişir ve bu yaş ilerledikçe büyümeye devam eder. Varikosel ve kısırlık hararetle tartışılan tıbbi konular olmaya devam ediyor. Varikosel ve kısırlık arasındaki bağlantı nedir?

Varikoselli erkeklerin çoğunda kısırlık belirtisi görülmez. Ancak birkaç tanesi doğurganlıkla ilgili sorunlar yaşayabilir. Bu ayrım, vücudun sperm yapma ve depolama yeteneğine müdahale ettiği için varikosellerden kaynaklanır.

2014 yılında yapılan bir çalışmada 816 kısır erkek muayene edildi ve her üç erkekten birinde varikosel vardı. Bu sıklığa göre, varikoseller bazen kısırlığa katkıda bulunabilir, ancak her zaman değil. Varikoselin kısırlık üzerindeki etkisi konusunda çelişkili kanıtlar vardır.

Daha önceki araştırmaların 2012 meta-analizine göre, varikosel kısırlık tedavisinin doğurganlığı artırabileceğine dair bazı kanıtlar var. Bu, çoğunlukla kısırlığın nedeninin bilinmediği durumlarda olur.

Varikosel, şişkin damarlar nedeniyle sperm için sağlık riskleri oluşturduğu ve sperm sayısını azalttığı için kısırlığa neden olabilir. Sperm sayısı normal olan kişilerde varikoselin kısırlık oranı daha düşüktür.
