Types of Audiometry tests

Three types of audiometry tests are performed to test hearing ability. The tests are as follows.

Pure tone Audiometry: It is a type of hearing test to measure our hearing sensitivity. In this test, you put on a set of headphones, and a series of sounds are played at different pitches.

Speech Audiometry: This test is similar to the Pure tone Audiometry test. The only difference is that you must repeat the words that you hear at different volumes.

Impedance Audiometry: It is a type of assessment test where the Doctor inserts a probe into the ear and pushes air against the eardrum. The Doctor then measures the way our eardrum responds against the air.

I accidentally drink lizoil through the nose and my nose is burning

Female | 16

When a situation like this arises, your nose can easily get very sensitive and even start to hurt. It can be that you may also find yourself sneezing or coughing a lot. To help with this, first, gently blow your nose to get rid of any leftover oil and then rinse your nose with cool water.

Male | 47

Experiencing persistent hissing in one ear and a feeling of fullness along with discomfort and headaches can be distressing. These symptoms may arise from various factors such as earwax buildup, fluid in the ear, or tension-related issues. It's important to ensure that a thorough evaluation has been conducted, including hearing tests and possible imaging, to pinpoint the cause. You may benefit from a review of your current medications and treatment plan by your healthcare provider. They can help tailor a solution that addresses your specific needs. Don't hesitate to seek further professional advice if symptoms persist; maintaining open communication with your doctor is key.

I have been dealing with increasing ear pain for 2 days, and I am deadly afraid that something is lodged inside. I have pain in my jaw when I attempt to eat solid food, this did not start until after my ear started as well.

Male | 22

Are you possibly interested in the problem with your ear and the pain in your jaw? These various symptoms include ear infections, fluid buildup, and the possible jaw joint problems, among others. Although the sensation of having something stuck can be disconcerting, it is advisable not to play a doctor and communicate with the doctor. I suggest making an appointment with your healthcare provider in order to be assessed. Their examination will reveal the exact problem you might be suffering from, they will solve your worries and offer the right type of treatment.

I was suffering from viral fever in the last week. On 30th December 2024 i felt symptoms of Eustachian tube dysfunction (even have sinus issues) and yesterday for the first time i had a pain in the mastoid bone of my ear, it's swollen and red too and the pain in spread out in my half face (upper jaw teeth pain), neck pain and all... In the past i had issues related to TMJ where while chewing my jaw used to get locked and have suffered serious neck ache like the one I'm having right now in addition to the pain in throat (especially while swallowing).. do i have mastoiditis??

Female | 17

You seem to have a few very worrying symptoms, which are earache and swelling, that are a hint at an ear infection and, in some cases, mastoiditis. Your facial, neck, and throat discomfort may be connected as well. The matter of getting you checked out is to have all aspects of your position estimated. Your history of TMJ and headaches could be the other causes of the discomfort. There are treatments that could work, such as those that lessen the swelling and the pain, and they may produce the result you want. Finally, the accurate examination must be conducted by a physician.

Dear Doctor, From last couple of days i am suffering from acute pain in my throat specially while swallowing anything and also having cough with mucus but mucus is not coming out i can hear the rattling sound from my throat while coughing and after carefully examining my throat i can see that my left side of tonsil has inflammation with several white spots on it the white spots are there on both the tonsils but i can feel the extreme pain at the left side of tonsil only. I am frequently doing saline gargles but its not helping me out. Further i would request you to kindly advise some good medications for the quick relief. Thank you

Male | 41

You may be experiencing acute tonsillitis, resulting in significant discomfort while swallowing and coughing. The presence of white spots suggests a possible infection. Saline gargles are helpful, but additional treatment may be necessary. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen can provide relief. Staying hydrated and using throat lozenges may also ease the pain. However, I recommend seeking a healthcare professional for a precise diagnosis and suitable medications, as they may prescribe antibiotics if a bacterial infection is present.

Dear Sir / Ma'am Pain in the throat whenever i wake up in the morning.mouth taste is also bitter .Sometimes blood also comes.

Male | 30

Pain in the throat and a bitter taste in the mouth can be signs of an underlying infection, such as a throat infection or tonsillitis. It is also possible that the symptoms are due to other causes, such as acid reflux or allergies. If you experience this symptom on a regular basis, it would be best to consult with your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Your doctor may suggest further tests, such as blood tests, throat swabs, or imaging tests, to determine the cause of your symptoms.
