Lower backpain and curved lumbar pain in both legs also

Male | 17

To address lower back pain and leg discomfort, first, consult an orthopedic for a proper diagnosis and personalized treatment plan. They may suggest pain relief measures, physical therapy, and exercises to improve mobility. Pay attention to posture, use heat or cold therapy, and consider lifestyle changes like weight management. Only in certain severe cases surgery may be an option.

I am suffering leg pain including knee due to my old age 63 , best possible treatment for relief. Please guide

Female | 63

As a medical expert, I suggest that you go to an orthopedist to examine your knee and leg. It is not unusual fat this age group to be hit by joint wear and tear. A orthopedic doctor will diagnose the actual reason for the pain, and will propose the most appropriate treatment, which may range from medications, physical therapy and surgery if needed.

My father is diabetic and takes insulin every day. For the past few months, he has been unable to walk for more than a few minutes. He has no problem standing for long while traveling in buses or walking up and down stairs. He has no knee pain but feels cramps in his calf muscles whenever he starts walking for more than 2 minutes. Around 3 years ago, he also lost a lot of weight and has never gained it back. He is 5.7ft and weighs less than 50 kgs. Is an orthopedic the right specialist to visit for treatment? What could be the causes behind his symptoms and how can they be treated? Does he need physiotherapy?

Male | 57

Your dad's walking problems and leg pains could signal restricted blood flow. This condition, peripheral artery disease, makes walking hard. Your dad losing weight and unable to walk well is worrying. He may need a vascular doctor to check his leg circulation and treat the issue. Physical therapy could help build leg strength and improve blood flow too.

Im Punya, gender female, age 18, i was in neet longterm for an year, in these period my ankles started swelling it is there now also with pain. I consulted ayurvedic doctor i didnt get any solution

Female | 18

These symptoms can happen if a person sits too long without moving around enough or they have some medical problem. You should see an orthopedist about your ankles so we know what’s going on with them. In the meantime try raising your legs up high when you can–this will help bring more blood flow down into your feet. Also, put cold packs on them to ease any swelling and hurt.

I am 20 year grand daughter who is taking care of my 70+age grandmother who has ankle fracture a month ago.We are not allowed to have surgery because operation won't be success. She has tight bandage in first week, after 15 days. What is the best steps to be taken now?And the second question is I am helping her with bedpan for excretion. But at night, She expects to use bedpan. But I suggest adult tape briefs. What should I use at night?

Female | 70

  • Older individuals are more prone to falls and fractures. The incidence of ankle fractures in older patients is high and severe in some cases. The treatment is difficult and complicated in nature due to presence of comorbidities such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension and poor bone quality.
  • Treatment goals include: Stability of the joint, ability of the patient to perform daily activities independently and minimizing complications associated with fracture and other comorbid conditions.

RICE is a part of the Non-operative management of ankle fracture in older patients which includes:

R: The importance of rest cannot be overstated. In order for the fracture to heal faster limit yourself from further pressure on the foot.

A cast will most likely be worn to keep the foot and ankle immobile.  In case of severe soft tissue swelling, a cast may be required for the first three to five days. The brace must be worn for six weeks in order to allow the fracture to heal. Cast fixation with off-loading is advised for poor bone quality depending on the radiography report.

Ice: For reducing the swelling and inflammation, apply ice to the region for 20 minutes at a time.

And continue further for every 40 minutes.

Compression: Wrapping the area in a bandage helps to reduce swelling.

Elevation: To assist reduce inflammation, lift your foot and ankle slightly above the level of your heart.
