Why hasn't my penile sore healed yet?

I am 47 years old. I noticed fresh sore like pilled skin by the cap of my penis and waited for it to heal on its own for some time now but it didn't. I taught it was bruises from sexual relations with my spouse in the beginning but I am beginning to think otherwise. What is your take on this?
