Why is my balanitis treatment not fully healing?

Patient's Query

Hello Doctor, I am a 23-year-old male. I was treated for balanitis and have completed two courses of prescribed medication. While the infection seemed to improve, I am still experiencing redness, raw and sensitive skin at the affected area, which is painful to touch. I have also noticed some white discharge from the area. Could you please advise: 1. Whether this could still indicate an ongoing infection or a post-inflammatory reaction? 2. Is this kind of persistent redness, pain, and white discharge common after balanitis treatment? 3. How long does it usually take for the skin to heal completely Thank you very much for your time and guidance.

Answered by Dr. Archit Aggarwal

The redness, sensitivity, and discharge you're experiencing could indeed signal either an ongoing infection or a post-inflammatory response. Sometimes, even after treatment, the skin needs more time to fully heal, leading to these lingering symptoms. It's not uncommon, so please don't worry too much. I recommend keeping the area clean and dry, wearing loose, breathable clothing, and avoiding irritants like harsh soaps. If the symptoms persist or worsen, a follow-up with your dermatologist would be a good idea. Healing times can vary, but with proper care, your skin should improve gradually.

I have acne ...tiny bumps on my full face.. since may years...I want to get red from it

Female | 30

Skin conditions that are common to individuals of all ages include acne. It is marked by small bumps on the face and other areas of the body. These bumps are due to blockage of the pores and excessive sebum production. To avoid acne it is necessary to visit a dermatologist who specializes in diseases of the skin. They can prescribe treatments, including creams that you apply directly on the skin or take oral medication as well as other procedures recommended by doctors to make acne go away and not reoccur.

Face pimple and itching and spot

Female | 23

Pimples are a result of pore closures on the skin due to the plugs made of oil and dirt. Itching might be a symptom of your skin being inflamed. To relieve the problem, gently clean your skin with a mild cleaner, don't pick or squeeze the pimple, and use a spot treatment with ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

I m 35 years old male. Last three days I got a sudden bump while rubbing my penis. The bump is not going away and I am also taking antibiotic tablet still no improvement

Male | 35

Antibiotics will not necessarily clear up every problem, as sometimes it is not even a bacterial issue. Be sure to watch for other symptoms like pain and changes in the look. Setting a meeting with a dermatologist is good advice and he will check you out thoroughly and suggest the best treatment. It is a must to have professional support for the proper identification and treatment.
