Gene therapy is a procedure that helps replace defective genes. It is an artificial technique that introduces normal functioning genes in the place of defective genes.Stem cell treatment is a kind of regenerative medicine that helps treat various diseases. The induced stem cells heal the damaged cells or accelerate the repair response in the damaged tissue.
Types of Gene Therapy:  Somatic Gene Therapy and Germline Gene Therapy

Types of Stem Cells: Adult stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, embryonic stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells.

It involves introduction or modification of genes to prevent or treat a disease. It involves introduction of cells to replace or repair the damaged cells.
This usually involves a virus vector to deliver the new gene. Some stem cells like mesenchymal stem cells can themselves act as a vector.
