Hi, my mother has Osteoarthritis and thus she suffers from chronic knee pain. Just wanted to know how effective stem cell therapy may be in her case. I also have a few doubts listed below: What are the benefits of stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis (if any)? What is the down-time after the procedure? My mother is a teacher and doesn't have the provision to take too many leaves. How much a procedure like this likely to cost?

Evaluation is based on the amount of pain, her functional disability, and stage of osteoarthritis on x-rays. Beyond a certain stage, therapies like stem cell aren't expected to work.

Stem cell therapy is reserved for only early arthritis. Severe arthritis would not benefit.

I my opinion
stem cell therapy is still not recommended in osteoarthritis
though stem cell therapy is undergoing research

if early osteoarthritis then physiotherapy and life style changes
if symptoms are too much and high grade osteoarthritis then go for joint replacement

Stem cell therapy for joints is not yet advocated

Go for physiotherapy
If your mother have advance arthritis then consider surgery
if early then one can go injection in knee join of haylonuric acid
Physiotherapy will be main saty of treatment along with lifestyle modification

Stem Cell Therapy can be PRP, ACS, ADMSCs, BMAC etc

Stage 1, 2 OA and sometimes stage 3 OA may benfit from Stem Cell Therapy. But no concrete evidence on this. Yet its a safe method and can be tried.

Treatment of knee joint osteoarthritis depends on age, clinical examination and radiological finding (grading of osteoarthritis).
pain is chronic and osteoarthritis garde is 3 /4 .there is no role of conservation management like PRP and all.
Stem cell might help in stage 1 osteoarthritis but not proven yet...
send you details or x-ray-for further management..
