This surgery can add up to 6 inches (15 centimeters) to a leg.

Considerations:
The safe lengthening range is 2-3 inches (5-8 cm) in the thigh bone (femur).
If lengthening exceeds 3 inches in either bone, the same might result in more complications.
A separate lengthening procedure can be performed one year after the previous surgery in the shin bones (tibiae) region to gain 2-3 inches (5-8 cm) more.

I am a 17-year-old female. I was recovering quite well from a mild knee ligament stretch from over 2 or 3 months ago. It was not fully recovered, though.
