I'm suffering from CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia). I'm preparing myself for BMT an immediate basis in India. I wanted to know the total treatment cost for this purpose. If you give me the information about the cost involvement, that would be great.

Answered by Pankaj Kamble

Hello Mohammad,

  • Chronic myeloid leukemia treatment usually requires an allogeneic bone marrow transplant.
  • The allogeneic stem cell transplant cost in India is around $35,022 (Rs. 25,00,000) - $42,027 (Rs. 30,00,000).
  • And autologous stem cell transplant cost will be around $21,013 (Rs.15,00,000) - $23,652 (Rs.17,00,000), if in case you will require same.
  • You will have to find an HLA match donor for the bone marrow transplant. And you should send all the medical reports like test results and HLA results. This is done so that the oncologists here can confirm the prognosis. Siblings are the best candidates for the bone marrow donation in this case.

Hope this answer helps you. You can also refer our page to find hospitals which could help you out - Cancer Hospitals in India.

My brother has liver tumor he went through surgery but doctors said there is small amount of tumor left which cant be removed through surgery.my question is will it be removed by radiation therapy/chemotherapy?

Male | 19

Radiation therapy and chemotherapy are treatment options that can help shrink liver tumors. But the effectiveness of these treatments depends on various factors such as the size and location of the remaining tumor, and the overall health of the patient. It is best to consult with an oncologist to determine the most appropriate course of treatment for your brother's condition.

Hi I am Nehal. My brother is 48 years old and we are from Rajkot. He was not well for the last few weeks so we consulted with our family doctor. After a CT scan and a few other tests on Friday, he was diagnosed with a couple of specks on one lung. It's size is 3.9 cm and the biopsy report says it's cancerous. Please refer us to a good place to treat him. We are not so strong financially. Is there any way to save him and treat him from Rajkot only?

Please consult, so that I may be able to guide you appropriately. Lung Cancer in early stages may be cured by a surgery.

I am 35 years old female and my stomach was bloated for 2 days then I consulted doctor who gave drips then told for a ct scan then they told its cancer other told its all spread and its stage 4 many told us not to get biopsy as it will make it more spread now the report came that cea is 0.5 and ldh is 276

Female | 35

Bloating can arise from various factors, including digestive issues or hormonal changes. The elevated LDH and the CEA levels are significant, but it's crucial to interpret these in the context of your overall health and symptoms. Consult your physician for a comprehensive evaluation and discuss the necessity of a biopsy based on your specific situation. It's essential to have a supportive team guiding your care. Remember, communication with your healthcare provider is key to navigating this journey effectively.
